HONOR announced a European launch price of €279 and claimed up to 15 days of typical-use battery life.
That endurance figure is a controlled manufacturer claim, not a guarantee of 15 days for every owner. Independent reviews found more than a week of ordinary use, but roughly three to five days with the always-on display enabled. Availability, pricing and some features also vary by country and paired phone.

What HONOR announced at MWC 2025
HONOR positioned the Watch 5 Ultra as its first Ultra-branded smartwatch, combining premium materials, health and fitness tracking, long battery life and a design intended to stand apart from conventional round watches. The announcement took place in Barcelona on March 2, 2025. The stated European retail price was €279, although that launch price should not be treated as a current universal price.
The watch was announced in black with a fluoroelastomer strap and brown with a leather strap. Availability was region-dependent rather than automatically worldwide. HONOR’s global product page continues to link to regional purchase pages, including stores for the UAE and Malaysia.

A genuinely unusual octagonal case
The Watch 5 Ultra’s defining feature is HONOR’s “Dome Octagonal Design.” The outer case and bezel use an octagonal form inspired, according to HONOR, by a spaceship viewport. The display itself should not be described as octagonal: it is a conventional 1.5-inch AMOLED panel set inside the distinctive case.
The case uses grade-5 titanium, while HONOR lists artificial sapphire glass for screen protection. Reviewers generally considered the construction premium-looking and comfortable, but the design comes in only one size. Tech Advisor measured it at approximately 46.3mm, which may feel large on smaller wrists even if the curved profile wears comfortably.
Titanium and sapphire improve the materials story, but neither makes the watch immune to impact damage. Sapphire is highly scratch-resistant rather than indestructible, and the leather strap is a poorer choice than fluoroelastomer for regular swimming or water exposure.
Display and controls
The AMOLED touchscreen has a 466 × 466 resolution, according to Tech Advisor, and supports a refresh rate of up to 60Hz. HONOR also highlights LTPO technology and always-on-display support. “Up to 60Hz” does not mean the display runs at a constant 60Hz in every mode.

Independent reviews found the screen bright, detailed and readable outdoors. The visible black bezel prevents it from appearing completely edge-to-edge, but the display remains one of the watch’s stronger hardware features. A rotating crown and second physical button provide alternatives to touchscreen controls.
Battery life: 15 days on paper, less with demanding settings
HONOR’s official claim is up to 15 days under typical usage. The company’s conditions include a defined usage pattern and pairing with an HONOR phone, so the figure is best understood as a laboratory maximum rather than a normal result for every setup.

GPS workouts, frequent exercise tracking, Bluetooth calls, music, health monitoring, notifications, high brightness and the always-on display all reduce endurance. The battery is rated at 480mAh. HONOR says 10 minutes of charging can provide up to a day of use under its test conditions; Tom’s Guide reported a full charge taking just under 90 minutes with the included magnetic charging base.

The Watch 5 Ultra offers heart-rate monitoring, blood-oxygen monitoring where available, stress and sleep tracking, wrist-temperature or related wellness sensing, a Quick Health Scan and a Healthy Morning Report. It also includes GPS, Bluetooth calling through its built-in speaker and microphone, and more than 100 sports modes as reported by Tech Advisor.

HONOR lists a free-diving mode for depths of up to 40 metres and says the watch complies with the EN13319 standard for diving accessories. Tech Advisor also reported 5ATM water resistance, IP68 protection and swim tracking. These claims should be read carefully:
- A 40-metre free-diving mode is not the same as a general scuba-diving certification.
- Water resistance is not the same as permanent waterproofing.
- The watch is not a replacement for a dedicated dive computer or professional diving equipment.
- Users should follow HONOR’s operating and safety instructions.
HONOR states that the Watch 5 Ultra is not a medical device. Its heart-rate, SpO₂, sleep, stress and other readings are for wellness reference and should not be used to diagnose or treat a medical condition. Tech Advisor also reported that ECG functionality was not live in its testing, and health features can vary by region.
Compatibility, calling and software limitations
Tom’s Guide lists compatibility with Android 9.0 or later and iOS 13.0 or later. The watch can therefore appeal to both Android and iPhone users, but the feature set is not identical across platforms. HONOR says certain functions require an HONOR phone running MagicOS 9.0 or later. Tech Advisor reported that iPhone users may lose access to features such as paid watch faces and music-player functionality.

The safest buying assumption is that the Watch 5 Ultra is a Bluetooth-connected watch unless the exact regional model explicitly confirms otherwise.

Software is the principal weakness beside the one-size case. Reviewers found the interface less polished and less feature-rich than leading Apple Watch, Wear OS and other mature smartwatch platforms. “Ultra” is HONOR’s product branding; it does not establish equivalence with the Apple Watch Ultra or Galaxy Watch Ultra in software ecosystem, cellular capability, ruggedness or third-party app support.

HONOR announced a €279 European retail price at launch. As of August 16, 2026, the global product page still lists the watch and links to regional stores, including the UAE buying page and Malaysia buying page. The UAE page did not expose a visible current price in the available listing, so readers should check their local HONOR store for current pricing, stock, warranty and included strap.
The available evidence does not establish a US retail launch. Tech Advisor described the watch as unavailable in the US during its review. US buyers should be especially cautious about importing an international model because warranty coverage, returns, software features, charger requirements and regional health functions may differ.

How it compares with the alternatives
The Watch 5 Ultra makes the most sense for buyers who value battery life and unusual hardware more than a large app ecosystem. The OnePlus Watch 3 offers a stronger Wear OS environment for Android users, while the Samsung Galaxy Watch range has deeper Samsung and Android integration but generally shorter endurance.

For iPhone owners, the Apple Watch SE remains the more natural ecosystem choice, although it requires more frequent charging and cannot be used with Android. Battery-focused alternatives include the Huawei Watch GT 5 and Amazfit Balance. The Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro is another Wear OS option, trading some endurance for broader app support.
Who should buy the HONOR Watch 5 Ultra?
It is a strong candidate for an Android or HONOR-phone owner who wants premium-looking materials, a distinctive octagonal case, sleep and workout tracking, GPS, notifications and long endurance without daily charging. It is also one of the more visually distinctive alternatives to the standard round smartwatch.
It is a weaker choice for iPhone users seeking the deepest ecosystem integration, anyone who requires confirmed LTE or standalone calling, buyers who need multiple case sizes, serious divers, medical-monitoring users and shoppers who depend on a mature third-party app platform. Before buying, confirm the local price, warranty, phone compatibility and exact regional feature list—especially for ECG, blood-oxygen features, music controls and cellular connectivity.
Bottom line: The HONOR Watch 5 Ultra’s octagonal titanium design and genuinely strong endurance make it interesting, but the headline 15-day figure is a best-case claim. Its value depends on whether you prefer long battery life and distinctive hardware over polished software, broad app support and clearly established regional availability.
