Patek Philippe recommends servicing quartz and mechanical watches every eight to ten years through an Authorized Retailer or official Service Center. Its published maximum public prices, excluding taxes, range from CHF 600 for a quartz full service to CHF 2,700 for a Complication III; Grand Complications and certain older watches are priced on request. These figures are not guaranteed quotes: the final cost depends on the watch’s reference and condition, as well as any additional parts or work required.

Case or bracelet refreshing is separate from maintenance. These are published maximum public prices, not a guaranteed quote for a particular watch.
A battery change is different from a quartz full service. Patek Philippe says battery changes are free at authorized points of sale; its care guidance gives a typical quartz battery life of two to three years and directs owners to an Authorized Retailer for replacement. The separate quartz full-service price is not a battery-change fee.
How often does Patek Philippe recommend service?
Patek Philippe’s watch-care guidance recommends having quartz and mechanical watches—including manual and self-winding models—serviced every eight to ten years by an official Service Center or Authorized Retailer. This is the manufacturer’s general interval, not a diagnosis of an individual watch. If yours has a problem before then, ask an authorized provider to assess it rather than waiting for the interval to elapse.

For day-to-day care, Patek Philippe advises avoiding shocks, prolonged vibrations, extreme temperature changes, and magnetic fields. Water resistance and operating instructions vary by model, so consult the guide for your specific watch rather than assuming that all references have the same limits.

The published schedule gives a useful baseline, but it cannot determine the cost for a specific reference and condition. Contact an authorized provider for an estimate. Patek Philippe says an immediate cost and time estimate may be available for modern watches produced after 1980 that need standard service, show no visible damage, and are not Haute Horlogerie models. Other watches may need to be opened for a detailed estimate; the company says this estimate is usually provided within five working days.
After the watch arrives, Patek Philippe describes the service process as taking between six and twelve weeks. This is a process range, not a promised return date. Its final quality-control stage lasts 14 days and evaluates air tightness, aesthetics, functions, winding speed, power reserve, rate accuracy, and simulated movement.

When comparing estimates, check that you are comparing the same movement or complication category and note the watch’s age and condition. Also compare what maintenance is included, any additional parts or refinishing, taxes and currency, estimate validity, expected turnaround, and whether the provider is authorized.

Patek Philippe says watches must be serviced by Authorized Retailers or authorized Service Centers. It also states that unauthorized third-party interventions void the Patek Philippe warranty; maintenance performed through its authorized service-center network is covered by a two-year warranty. Verify the provider through the company’s official retailer directory.
The service process begins with a check against Patek Philippe’s historical archives and recording of the watch’s serial number, followed by diagnostic inspection and work on the external parts and movement. The precise scope varies with the watch’s complexity.
