Remove it when the Libre app or reader indicates it is time, then apply and start a new sensor. If it falls off or ends early, replace it rather than waiting until day 15.
This is Abbott’s stated product-use interval, not a guarantee that every sensor will last the full period. Follow the instructions supplied with your sensor and your clinician’s instructions for your diabetes care.
When to replace the sensor
Replace the sensor when its usable period ends or the app or reader indicates it is time. Do not treat “up to 15 days” as permission to continue using a sensor that has fallen off or ended early.
If the sensor falls off before 15 days
Abbott says to replace the sensor, start a new one, and submit a sensor support request or contact Customer Care. Do not try to put the detached sensor back on.

If “Sensor Ended” appears
Abbott says this message means the sensor’s life has ended. Remove it and start a new sensor. If the message appears before 15 days, contact Abbott support.
Applying a replacement sensor
Use the instructions supplied with your sensor when removing and applying it. Abbott’s getting-started guide recommends applying a new sensor to a different spot on the back of the arm to help avoid skin irritation; switching arms can help.

- Remove the old sensor according to the supplied instructions.
- Choose a different suitable spot on the back of the arm.
- Apply and start the new sensor using the app or reader instructions.
Abbott’s guide also mentions an over-bandage as an option for contact sports. It gives Tegaderm I.V. as an example, advises keeping the center opening uncovered, and says to apply the over-bandage when applying the sensor. Follow the accessory manufacturer’s instructions. An over-bandage is optional and does not extend the sensor’s stated wear interval.
Which app or reader can I use?
Abbott says the FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus sensor is compatible with the Libre app and FreeStyle Libre 3 reader. Check Abbott’s compatibility information and the instructions for your specific system.
