A 165 mm wrist measurement helps size a watch’s bracelet or strap; it does not set a universal limit for case diameter. To assess how a collection fits, you need the watches’ dimensions and shape, plus a clear view of how each sits on the wrist. Without the model list or photos, no specific collection can be ranked—but the measurement and fit criteria below show what can be judged.
What a 165 mm measurement tells you
165 mm is the circumference of the wrist, measured around the point where the watch will sit. It is useful for sizing a band, but it is not the same as wrist width, and it cannot by itself determine whether a watch case looks or feels too large.

Timex describes case-size preference as subjective: there is no single case size that is automatically too big or too small for every wearer. A case’s proportions and how it sits on your wrist matter alongside its diameter. Measure circumference and width separately
Measure circumference for band fit
- Wrap a strip of paper around the wrist on which you wear your watch, keeping it where the watch normally sits.
- Mark where the strip meets to form a circle, then lay it flat and measure from the strip’s end to the mark with a ruler.
- For a looser fit, consider adding a few millimeters when checking a band’s size range. Fit also varies with wrist shape and personal preference; if uncertain, try the item on in person.
This follows CHANEL’s published measurement method; a flexible measuring tape is another convenient way to measure circumference.

Measure width to preview case proportions
Wrist width is a horizontal measurement across the wrist, not the distance around it. Garmin Singapore’s watch-size visualizer asks users to measure horizontally 2.5 cm above the wrist bone and lets them preview selected case diameters. That visual aid addresses width and appearance; it does not convert a 165 mm circumference into a recommended case size.
Use the size chart for the exact watch or bracelet
Band ranges belong to specific products, not to all watches with a particular case size. CHANEL’s US guide lists size L for a Première Iconic Chain triple-row watch for wrist circumferences of 165–170 mm. The same guide gives a different range—155–166 mm—for size L in its one-row version. These product-specific figures illustrate why you should check the chart for the exact model and bracelet rather than treat either range as a general rule.

What to compare across a collection
For each watch, gather the exact model or reference and compare the following details. A 165 mm circumference alone cannot establish universal numerical cutoffs for a good fit.

- Lug-to-lug length: helps show how far the watch spans across the wrist; check whether the lugs extend beyond its edges.
- Thickness: affects the watch’s profile and how it wears beneath a sleeve.
- Case shape: round, rectangular, tonneau, and other shapes can look and sit differently even at similar dimensions.
- Bracelet geometry: end links and the way a bracelet joins the case affect how the watch spans the wrist.
- Band adjustment: consider the bracelet’s removable links or the strap’s usable adjustment range, not just the case.
Judge comfort and the look you prefer separately from measurable fit. Visible lug overhang and a band that cannot adjust comfortably are concrete fit concerns; whether a watch looks bold or oversized is a matter of taste.

What is needed for a collection-specific assessment
To compare or rank the watches in a particular collection, provide each model’s exact reference or reliable dimensions, plus photos showing the watches on the wrist. Useful photos show the watch from above and from the side, with the wrist in a natural position. The model details help identify case dimensions and band options; the photos show how those proportions actually sit. Without that information, a 165 mm measurement can guide band sizing but cannot support a verdict on the collection.
