Can you swim with a G-SHOCK?
Casio describes most G-SHOCK models as water resistant to 200 meters, or 20 bar, and says this rating is suitable for swimming and many active water uses. “Water resistant” is more accurate than “waterproof”: the rating is a design pressure designation, not a guarantee that a watch is invulnerable in every water condition. Casio explains the distinction in its water-resistance guidance.
What 20 bar or 200 meters means
Casio uses 20 bar and 200 meters as corresponding water-resistance designations; bar describes pressure, while the meter figure is an approximate depth equivalent. Do not treat the number as permission to use any watch at that depth or in every underwater activity.

Swimming versus scuba diving
Casio distinguishes standard G-SHOCK water resistance from ISO-standard 200-meter diving water resistance. It identifies the FROGMAN line for ISO-standard diving use. A standard 200-meter G-SHOCK should not be described as a professional dive watch solely because of its rating. Check Casio’s guidance and the exact model specification before choosing a watch for diving.
Band care and removal
Band-removal mechanisms are model-specific. The GA-2100 catalog describes a slide lever that makes that model’s band easier to attach and remove for cleaning and maintenance; this feature should not be assumed to exist on other G-SHOCKs. If a band is worn or damaged, confirm compatibility with the exact watch model before fitting a replacement. Casio provides model guides and manuals through its support pages. If removal or fitting is unclear, ask a suitable watch service provider rather than forcing the attachment.
