What you can—and can’t—verify before buying
A careful model and document check is useful for screening a listing. It is not a home authentication test. Casio’s G-SHOCK UK Support answer to “Is my product counterfeit?” says: “The only accurate way to tell if a product is counterfeit is to send it into our service centre for an assessment” (G-SHOCK UK Support; answer dated 10 January 2023 and updated subsequently).

That distinction matters: a manual, case-back marking, box or warranty card may be consistent with a genuine model, but none is established by Casio as stand-alone proof. If you cannot arrange an assessment before purchase, your decision depends in part on the seller’s traceability and return terms.

Ask for the exact model and clear photos
Request the full model designation and clear photos of the watch’s front, case back, sides and buttons, packaging, and any paperwork. If the seller cannot provide enough detail to identify the watch, you cannot reliably compare it with official information.

Compare it with Casio’s exact model page
Search Casio’s official product and support pages for the model designation. Compare the case shape, dial layout, visible markings and the features described in the listing with that specific model—not with a generic G-SHOCK checklist. Casio’s G-SHOCK support pages provide access to product information, operation guides, FAQs, repairs and inquiries.
Model details vary, so do not assume that one case-back design, marking or visual feature applies to every G-SHOCK.

Check the claimed functions against the matching guide
Find the operation guide for the exact model and check whether it describes the functions the seller claims. If a module number is visible, it may help you locate the corresponding guide, but a matching module or manual is an identification aid—not authentication. A mismatch is a reason to pause and ask the seller for an explanation; a match does not prove the watch is genuine.

Review the seller and purchase records
Check who is selling the watch, what receipt will be provided and whether the seller’s return policy gives you a practical way to respond if concerns arise. Packaging and paperwork help put the transaction in context, but they do not authenticate the watch.

Check warranty information for your country
Warranty coverage and requirements vary by market. Use Casio’s international warranty network and your local Casio support resources to identify the relevant regional contact and terms. Keep the receipt and warranty documents, and confirm that they apply to your country rather than assuming a card or promise covers the purchase.

Escalate unresolved doubts
If the photos, markings, functions or paperwork conflict—or you remain unsure—contact Casio support and ask about service-centre assessment. A seller’s photos, a number on the case back, a warranty card or a box should not be presented as a definitive substitute for that assessment.

How to interpret warning signs
- Details conflict with the official model information: pause and ask the seller to clarify. The inconsistency warrants caution, but by itself does not establish whether the watch is counterfeit.
- The listing’s claimed functions do not appear in the matching guide: ask for clarification before buying. Do not rely on a guide for a different model.
- The seller will not provide an exact model or useful photos: you have too little information to complete a meaningful comparison.
- The seller or warranty details are unclear: confirm the seller’s identity, return terms and the warranty contact and conditions for your region before deciding.
Do not treat a low price by itself as proof of counterfeiting. No price threshold or counterfeit-prevalence figure is established here, and there is no universal serial-number lookup established by these sources that certifies a G-SHOCK.

What a module number or paperwork can tell you
A module number may help identify which Casio operation guide to consult. A Bangladesh retailer’s guide also recommends using the module number as a manual cross-check; that is regional retailer advice, not a universal Casio authentication policy (Casio Bangladesh retailer guide). If the module and functions align, that supports consistency with the model information, but it does not establish authenticity.

Likewise, a receipt or warranty document can help establish the transaction and point you toward applicable regional support. The available sources do not say that paperwork or packaging alone proves a watch is genuine.
Choosing between listings
When two listings are otherwise comparable, assess the evidence and recourse each seller offers—not just the photos. Consider whether you can identify the exact model, compare its details and functions with Casio’s information, trace the seller, obtain relevant purchase records, confirm local warranty terms and return the watch if concerns remain. If you need certainty before paying, ask whether a service-centre assessment is possible; without it, pre-purchase checks remain screening rather than proof.
