Choose a PRO TREK by the exact model reference, not the family name: compare display readability and fit first, then check the sensors, altitude logging, lighting and power features your hikes call for. PRO TREK models share outdoor-watch positioning, but their functions and specifications differ.
Start with the display and fit
A sensor watch is useful only if you can read and operate it comfortably on the trail. Decide whether you want a straightforward digital display or hands paired with digital functions, and check how the compass information is presented. If you hike with gloves, consider whether the controls and display will be practical for you.

Casio’s PRG-69 family uses a dual-layer LCD with color graphics to distinguish compass directions. Casio says it provides 60 seconds of continuous compass measurement. The PRG-340-1 is digital, while the PRW6611Y-1 is analog-digital.
Compare case dimensions and weight, and consider how the watch sits on your wrist under a jacket cuff or pack strap. Casio lists the PRG-340-1 at 54 g with a 54.7 × 51.7 × 15.1 mm case, and the PRW6611Y-1 at 57 g with a 51.6 × 51.5 × 14.8 mm case. Those listed case widths are both over 51 mm, so try the watch on if fit is a concern.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Check which sensors and records the exact model has
Triple Sensor refers to compass, altitude and barometric-pressure, and temperature functions. It is a useful shorthand, not a guarantee that every PRO TREK has the same measurement intervals, logging, controls or on-screen presentation. Casio’s product pages describe Triple Sensor on the PRG-340-1, PRW6611Y-1 and PRG-69 family; verify details on the page and manual for the exact reference.
For hikes where you want stored altitude changes as well as live readings, check the logging features explicitly. Casio lists trek-log data for the PRG-340-1, including high and low altitude and cumulative ascent and descent. The QW-3499 manual describes up to 14 trek-log records for the model associated with that manual; do not assume that capacity or behavior applies to other references.

Casio lists an altimeter range of −700 to 10,000 m for both the PRG-340-1 and PRW6611Y-1. Treat this as a manufacturer-published specification, not a promise of independent accuracy or a substitute for checking the manual’s operating guidance.
Match power and timekeeping to your routine
Solar power is listed for the PRG-340-1 and PRW6611Y-1, but solar charging does not make their feature sets interchangeable. The PRW6611Y-1 also lists Multi-Band 6 radio-controlled timekeeping; the cited PRG-340-1 specifications list solar power, not that timekeeping feature. If radio timekeeping matters, confirm it on the precise model page.

Check the manual’s low-charge behavior as well as the charging system. In the QW-3499 manual, low battery can disable compass, barometer/thermometer or altimeter operations. A watch with a sensor feature is not necessarily able to provide that feature in every battery state.
Confirm conditions and durability specifications
Environmental ratings are model-specific. Casio lists the PRG-340-1 at 10 bar / 100-meter water resistance and gives a low-temperature resistance specification of −10°C. Check the corresponding product page and manual for any other model you are considering rather than carrying these ratings across the range.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
Temperature readings also need context: the sensor is on the watch, and a reading from a wrist-worn watch is not established as equivalent to ambient air temperature. If air temperature matters to a decision outdoors, do not treat the watch reading as a precise standalone measurement.
Use sensor readings with care
The QW-3499 manual gives compass precision as within ±10° for the model associated with that document; it is not an accuracy specification for every PRO TREK. The manual recommends moving away from possible strong magnetism and performing bidirectional calibration if the watch’s compass disagrees with a backup compass. Strong impact can also cause sensor malfunction or poor internal contact. If “ERR” repeats, the manual says it may indicate a sensor problem.

Altitude and pressure readings are information to interpret, not a replacement for navigation basics. Casio’s manual refers to using map contour lines to assess altitude difference and comparing compass readings with a backup compass. Carry and know how to use a suitable map and compass when your route calls for them; do not make a wristwatch your entire navigation plan.
