Choose a colorful luxury watch by matching its dial, case, and strap to the clothes and occasions you wear most—not by expecting one color to go with everything. Consider how those elements sit alongside your jewelry and the clothing palette you wear most. Choose a size by trying the watch on
Case diameter is a separate choice from dial color. Rolex lists Oyster Perpetual sizes of 28, 31, 34, 36, and 41 mm. Those options do not create a universal size rule by wrist circumference or gender. If possible, try the exact model on and judge both physical comfort and visual proportion on your wrist. Think about the watch’s overall character
A watch can read as sporty, formal, or jewelry-like depending on its shape and materials, even when its dial is not colorful. Cartier describes the Panthère as both a watch and a piece of jewelry. Its cited yellow-gold example has a silvered dial, so it illustrates a jewelry-oriented design direction—not a colorful-dial alternative. Match the watch to the occasions you have in mind
Before comparing models, decide whether you want the watch mainly for daily wear, work, evening occasions, or several settings. A highly distinctive dial may be exactly right as a focal point, but it makes a different statement from a restrained design intended to recede into an outfit. Consider whether the watch’s case, bracelet, and visual formality feel appropriate in the settings where you plan to wear it.

Check whether a strap can actually be changed
An alternate strap can give a watch a different look, but only if the exact model supports the change and the replacement is compatible. Trends can help you discover options, but they are not a substitute for choosing something you will want to wear. In a January 6, 2026 article, Who What Wear reported stylist Ilaria Urbinati’s expectation that strong dial colors such as deep emerald green and rich burgundy would be a major trend.
