Choose a G-SHOCK by setting a spending limit, picking the display and wearing style you prefer, then paying only for functions you will use. Casio’s U.S. catalog spans price filters from under $100 to $400 and up, but the right choice depends on the exact model—not its price band or feature list alone.
Start with a budget, then compare exact models
Casio’s U.S. catalog groups G-SHOCK listings into five price filters. They are browsing bands, not fixed recommendations; prices and stock can change, so check the live listing for the exact model and suffix before buying.

| Catalog price filter | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| Below $100 | A broad starting range; confirm the exact model’s current price and features with Casio’s U.S. G-SHOCK catalog. |
| $100–$199 | A catalog band, not a guarantee that a particular model or feature is included. Check the listing. |
| $200–$299 | A catalog band, not a measure of fit or value for your routine. Check the listing. |
| $300–$399 | A catalog band, not a measure of fit or value for your routine. Check the listing. |
| $400 and up | A catalog band, not a measure of fit or value for your routine. Check the listing. |
A higher price may reflect materials or additional functions, but the catalog does not establish that a more expensive watch is better for a particular wearer. Start with the features you need and see which models fit your ceiling.
Choose the display and wearing style
Decide whether you prefer a digital display, analog hands, or an analog-digital combination. Casio also lists resin, composite, stainless steel, titanium, cloth, and leather band options. Those categories can help narrow appearance and wearing feel, but confirm the construction of the specific model rather than assuming every watch in a family uses the same materials.

Use the 5600/5000 family as a digital comparison point
The square 5600/5000 family gives digital-watch shoppers a concrete shortlist to compare. Casio’s U.S. family page displayed the DW-5600UBB-1 at $110 and the DW-5000R-1A at $220 in a 2026 catalog capture. These are listed U.S. catalog prices, not guaranteed current prices; check the exact variant and live listing at Casio’s 5600/5000 collection.

Do not treat the shared family name as proof that two models have identical construction, functions, or fit. Compare each model’s specification and case dimensions. If possible, try it on; the catalog evidence does not support a wrist-size recommendation that applies to every wearer.

Casio’s catalog provides filters for solar power, Bluetooth link, radio reception, GPS reception, and features including heart rate, compass, barometer, altimeter, temperature, tide graph, and moon data. These are options across the catalog, not features guaranteed on every G-SHOCK. Verify the exact model specification before treating a function as included.

- Water resistant 200m (660ft): in general, suitable for professional marine activity and serious surface water sports, but not diving
- Want fewer battery changes? Compare models that specifically list solar charging.
- Want automatic time setting or phone connectivity? Check whether the model offers radio reception, GPS reception, or Bluetooth; these are distinct features, not interchangeable labels.
- Need outdoor information? Choose only the sensors you expect to use, and confirm which are actually present.
- Mostly need a watch for everyday timekeeping? Avoid paying for extra functions that do not serve your routine.
Match water resistance to the activity
Water-resistance figures need careful interpretation. Casio says ratings express pressure rather than guaranteeing suitability for a specific activity. Its general guidance describes 10 bar as suitable for swimming and water-related activity, and 20 bar for marine sports, while cautioning that 20 bar is not intended for extended scuba diving. Read Casio America’s water-resistance guidance for the distinction between a pressure rating and an activity promise.
Casio describes standard G-SHOCK resistance as 20 bar/200 m for many active water conditions, but distinguishes that from ISO-standard 200 m diving resistance, which it identifies with FROGMAN. A standard G-SHOCK 20-bar rating and an ISO 200 m dive-watch rating are not interchangeable. If you need a watch for scuba diving, verify the model’s stated certification and intended use rather than relying on “200 m” alone. See G-SHOCK’s 20-bar water-resistance guidance.

Quick Recap
Best Value
| What to compare | What to check | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Current price and complete model designation, including suffix | Catalog prices and stock can change, and similar names can identify different variants. |
| Display | Digital, analog, or analog-digital | It determines the look and the format you will read every day. |
| Materials and wear | Case and band materials, plus case dimensions | Construction affects appearance and wearing feel; trying it on can help assess fit. |
| Power and time setting | Battery or solar, and any Bluetooth, radio, or GPS time adjustment | These conveniences vary by model, so pay for the ones you value. |
| Water use | Exact bar rating and any ISO dive certification | A standard 20-bar rating does not mean ISO-standard 200 m diving resistance. |
| Extra functions | The model’s listed sensors, alarms, and other activity features | Catalog filters describe options available across the range, not a standard equipment list. |
A practical selection sequence
- Set your ceiling. Use Casio’s U.S. G-SHOCK catalog price filters to narrow the field, then check the exact model’s current price and availability.
- Pick a display and style. Choose digital, analog, or analog-digital, then compare the specific case and band materials.
- Choose necessary functions. Decide whether solar charging, connected or automatic time setting, or particular sensors would be useful in your routine; verify each feature on the model page.
- Check water use. Match the stated rating and any dive certification to the activity rather than interpreting a depth figure as a blanket guarantee.
- Check the fit. Review case dimensions in the model specification and, when possible, try the watch on before deciding.
