Add, rearrange, or remove Pixel Watch 2 tiles right on the watch: from the watch face, swipe to the tile carousel, touch and hold a tile, then choose Add or use the move controls. To remove a tile, select it while holding and swipe up. A few well-chosen tiles make common actions easier to reach without confusing them with watch-face complications or the app launcher.
Know what you’re customizing
Tiles are swipeable cards or shortcuts you reach from the watch face. They can show information or provide quick access to features. They’re separate from three other watch interfaces:
- Watch-face complications display glanceable information, such as steps, weather, or battery, directly on the watch face.
- Quick settings open when you swipe down from the top of the screen; they include controls such as brightness and connectivity.
- The app launcher opens when you press the crown and lists apps. An installed app does not necessarily provide a tile.
Google’s Pixel Watch customization guide covers tiles and watch-face personalization. For information you want visible without swiping, consider a complication instead of adding another tile.
Add a tile on the watch
- Wake the display if needed, then return to the watch face.
- Swipe left or right from the watch face to reach the tile carousel.
- Touch and hold any tile.
- Tap Add or the plus icon, depending on the interface.
- Swipe through the available tiles and tap the one you want.
The new tile should appear in the carousel. If it isn’t immediately visible, return to the watch face and swipe through the carousel; allow a moment for the interface to refresh.

Reorder tiles for faster access
Hold a tile in the carousel and use the on-screen left or right arrows to move it. Put the tile you use most often closest to the watch face in the swipe sequence. That is different from the app launcher, which is a separate screen. Google’s Wear OS tile instructions describe moving tiles with arrow controls.
There is no universal best order. A workout-first setup might put exercise or activity information first; someone who checks appointments often may prefer Calendar; a smart-home user may put Google Home near the front. Keep the carousel focused on actions you reach for regularly.
Remove a tile
- From the watch face, swipe to the tile carousel and touch and hold a tile.
- Swipe left or right within the editor until the unwanted tile is selected.
- Swipe up to remove it.
Some Wear OS interfaces use a minus button instead. The control shown can vary with the software version; Google documents both Pixel Watch removal gestures and broader Wear OS controls in its Pixel Watch guide and Wear OS help.

Manage tiles from your phone
Pixel Watch 2 owners use the Google Pixel Watch app as the companion app. Google’s Google Pixel Watch app listing includes watch-face and tile customization. The precise phone menu path and labels may vary by app release. If you find a tile editor, use its plus button to add tiles, drag to reorder, or swipe to delete. If you don’t see that editor, make the change on the watch instead; the watch-based procedure is the dependable option.

Choose tiles for how you use the watch
These are example layouts, not official Google recommendations. The tile library varies by installed apps and software configuration, so a suggested tile may not appear on every watch.
- Everyday: Consider Calendar or Tasks, a timer, and battery information if you check charge often. Google’s Calendar and Tasks tile help describes those tile examples.
- Fitness: Put the activity or exercise tile you use most near the front, followed by steps or other available Fitbit information. Not every Fitbit metric has its own tile.
- Commuting: Weather and Calendar may be useful near the front. Maps, Wallet, or Find My Phone are options only if they appear in your tile library and suit your setup.
- Smart home and entertainment: Google Home offers a Favorites tile for compatible devices. A TV remote tile is available for compatible Google Home-connected TVs, including Google TV Streamer and Chromecast with Google TV. See Google’s guides for Google Home Favorites and the TV remote tile.
For a quick starting point, keep roughly four to six tiles you use frequently. Fewer tiles mean less swiping; more tiles put more functions in the carousel but can make it slower to navigate. No fixed maximum or battery-life benefit from a particular tile count is established here.

Use a tile, complication, or app?
- Choose a tile for an occasional glance or an interactive shortcut that benefits from a larger card, such as smart-home controls or an activity entry point.
- Choose a complication when information should be visible at a glance on the watch face, without an extra swipe. The watch face must support the data source you want.
- Open the app launcher when you need a full app, detailed view, or settings—or when the app doesn’t offer a tile.
Fix missing, stale, or nonworking tiles
The Add option is missing
Make sure you are holding a tile in the carousel, rather than pressing the crown or opening quick settings. If the editor still has no add option, the interface may differ or the watch and companion app may need updating. Google’s update instructions cover watch software, watch apps, and the phone app.
The tile you want is not listed
Installing an app does not guarantee a corresponding tile. The app must provide a Wear OS tile, and that tile must be available for your watch’s software and configuration. Update the relevant watch app and the Pixel Watch phone app, then restart the watch. Check whether the feature depends on a particular region, account, or software version. If there is no tile, open the full app from the launcher.
A tile was added but you cannot find it
Return to the watch face and swipe through the full carousel; the tile may have been placed farther back than expected. Hold a tile and move the new one closer to the watch face. If the carousel does not refresh after a short wait, restart the watch.

A tile appears but does not work
Check that the watch has the connection the feature requires, that its phone app is configured, and that account permissions are in place. Some features need the paired phone or an internet connection; requirements vary by tile. With Google Home, some device statuses may appear on the watch even when a particular control requires the phone, as Google notes in its Favorites help.
Google Home Favorites do not match the phone
Watch-specific Favorites can be customized separately and do not necessarily mirror the mobile Google Home Favorites list. Google’s Google Home instructions explain how to edit and rearrange the watch Favorites; some changes are completed through a notification on the phone.
The TV remote tile is absent
Google recommends updating apps from the watch Play Store, checking that Google Home meets the required version when applicable, force-stopping and reopening Google Home, then restarting the watch and phone. Changes after an update may take time to appear. See the TV remote troubleshooting steps.

Weather is unavailable
Google’s Pixel Weather app requires Wear OS 6 or newer, so its absence does not by itself indicate a hardware fault. Check the watch version at Settings → System → About → Versions. If the watch meets the requirement, check the tile library for Weather or UV Index. Google lists availability and setup details in its Pixel Weather help.
Quick two-minute tune-up
- Remove tiles you have not used recently.
- Add the one or two actions you reach for most often.
- Move your top priority closest to the watch face.
- Place useful health, weather, or calendar information next, if available.
- Leave full-app tasks and occasional utilities in the app launcher.
To check which screen you are on: swipe down from the top for quick settings, swipe left or right from the watch face for tiles, or press the crown for the app launcher. Pixel Watch 2 setup also depends on a compatible Android phone and the Google Pixel Watch app; see the Pixel Watch 2 specifications.
