How to Download Fitbit for PC in 2026: What Works Instead

There is no current supported Fitbit desktop app for Windows. Here is how to install Google Health on a compatible phone, pair and sync your tracker, avoid obsolete Fitbit Connect downloads, troubleshoot setup, and use a PC for exported health data.

There is no current, officially supported Fitbit desktop app to download for Windows. Fitbit setup and syncing now require a compatible Android phone or iPhone, the mobile Fitbit/Google Health app, Bluetooth, and a Google Account. A Windows PC can still be useful for viewing, managing, or exporting your health data, but it is not the supported host for the current Fitbit experience.

Search results still commonly point to old Windows apps, Fitbit Connect, Microsoft Store packages, or third-party downloads. Those instructions are outdated for current Fitbit setup. Do not install an unofficial “Fitbit for PC” package or use a random Fitbit Connect mirror just to connect a modern tracker.

What happened to the Fitbit app?

Google’s current transition guidance says that the product formerly known as the Fitbit app becomes the Google Health app beginning May 19, 2026. Existing users generally receive the change through an automatic app update. If the update does not appear, install or update the app manually through the official mobile app store.

Fitbit users with a legacy Fitbit account will also need to migrate to a Google Account to continue using the service after the transition. The exact timing and requirements can change during the rollout, so users should follow the migration prompts shown in the app rather than relying on old Fitbit-account instructions.

How to install Fitbit on a phone instead of a PC

Use these steps on a compatible mobile device:

  1. Check the phone requirements. Google’s current requirements specify Android 11 or later, or iOS 16.4 or later.
  2. Open the correct app store. On Android, open Google Play. On an iPhone, open the Apple App Store.
  3. Search for “Google Health.” During the transition, the app may still appear under the Fitbit name, depending on the rollout stage and region.
  4. Install or update the app. Use the official store listing rather than an APK, an old Microsoft Store download, or a third-party software site.
  5. Sign in with a Google Account. If the app asks you to migrate a legacy Fitbit account, complete that process in the app.
  6. Turn on Bluetooth. Fitbit devices use Bluetooth Low Energy to communicate with the phone.
  7. Complete setup inside the app. Keep the Fitbit near the phone and follow the on-screen pairing instructions.

The Fitbit should sync automatically when it is nearby and the mobile app is open or running normally. You do not need a Windows download for this supported setup.

Do not pair the Fitbit only from Windows or the phone’s Bluetooth menu

Bluetooth settings alone are not the complete Fitbit setup process. Google’s guidance says pairing should be completed from inside the Google Health app. If you add the tracker only through the phone’s ordinary Bluetooth settings, the app may fail to recognize it or setup may remain incomplete.

If you already attempted manual pairing, remove the Fitbit from the phone’s Bluetooth device list, then retry the setup from inside Google Health. Do not repeatedly pair and unpair it through the operating system’s Bluetooth screen while the app is trying to configure the device.

Can a Windows PC run Fitbit?

Not through a current supported Fitbit desktop client. Google’s current requirements identify a compatible Android phone or iPhone, Fitbit OS or Wear OS hardware where applicable, and internet access—not a Windows computer—as the supported environment.

What you want to do Current route Can Windows do it directly?
Set up a Fitbit tracker Google Health on a compatible Android phone or iPhone No supported Windows setup route
Sync daily activity Bluetooth Low Energy through the mobile app Not through a current Windows Fitbit app
Pair the device Inside the mobile app Do not rely on ordinary Windows Bluetooth pairing
Work with exported records Export from Google Health, then use the files on the PC Yes, after export

What about the old Fitbit web dashboard?

The former Fitbit computer dashboard should not be treated as a dependable replacement for the current mobile app. Fitbit community guidance records the full computer dashboard as discontinued on July 8, 2024. Because that information comes from community and moderator guidance rather than a current Google product specification, the safest conclusion is simply that readers should not expect the old desktop dashboard to provide the current Fitbit experience.

A web browser may still be useful for accessing account-related pages or data-management tools when Google provides them, but it does not replace the mobile app for initial device setup and Bluetooth synchronization.

Why Fitbit Connect and old Windows apps are a bad recommendation

Some older Fitbit manuals describe a Windows 10 Fitbit app or Fitbit Connect, sometimes used with a wireless sync dongle. Those documents apply to historical devices and software. They do not establish that Fitbit Connect remains supported in 2026.

In particular, avoid:

  • Unofficial Fitbit APK files or Windows installers
  • Old Microsoft Store packages copied from download sites
  • Random “Fitbit for PC” utilities
  • Android emulators used as a substitute for a supported phone
  • Third-party Fitbit Connect mirrors
  • Buying a USB Bluetooth dongle specifically to follow obsolete Fitbit Connect instructions

These options may be obsolete, unsupported, difficult to secure, or incapable of communicating with your particular tracker. A USB Bluetooth adapter is not the current synchronization path described by Google; current syncing is designed to run through a compatible phone or tablet.

Phone compatibility requirements

The current Google Health app requires:

  • Android 11 or later, or
  • iOS 16.4 or later.

Meeting the operating-system minimum does not guarantee that every unusual, heavily modified, or very old phone will work perfectly. Compatibility can also be affected by Bluetooth hardware, manufacturer restrictions, missing permissions, aggressive background-app controls, or an outdated version of Google Health.

If your phone is unsupported, the practical solution is a compatible Android phone or iPhone—not a Windows download. Do not replace a working phone merely because it is not the newest model; first check its operating-system version, Bluetooth support, available storage, and whether the official app-store listing allows installation.

Fitbit setup troubleshooting

1. The app cannot find the Fitbit

  • Confirm Bluetooth is enabled.
  • Keep the phone close to the tracker.
  • Make sure the Fitbit has charge.
  • Update the phone’s operating system and the Google Health app.
  • Allow the app the permissions it requests.
  • Disable battery-saving restrictions that stop the app from running in the background.
  • Remove the tracker from the phone’s Bluetooth list, then start pairing again inside Google Health.

2. The Fitbit connects but does not sync

Open Google Health with the tracker nearby and leave Bluetooth enabled. Check that you are signed into the Google Account associated with the Fitbit. If you recently migrated from a legacy Fitbit account, confirm that the migration completed and that the app is showing the expected device and profile.

Also check battery-saving settings. Some Android phones restrict background activity so aggressively that the app cannot maintain normal synchronization. The exact menu names vary by manufacturer, but look under Settings → Apps → Google Health → Battery and allow normal background operation where the phone provides that option.

3. Pairing fails after a previous attempt

  1. Close the Google Health app.
  2. Open the phone’s Bluetooth settings and remove the Fitbit from the saved-device list.
  3. Restart Bluetooth, or restart the phone if the device remains stuck.
  4. Reopen Google Health.
  5. Start setup from the app—not from the ordinary Bluetooth menu.

4. The app cannot be installed

Check whether the phone runs Android 11 or later or iOS 16.4 or later. If the store says the device is incompatible, a Windows PC will not solve the compatibility problem. Use a supported phone or consult Google’s current device requirements before purchasing replacement hardware.

5. The Fitbit will not charge

Google specifically recommends connecting the Fitbit charger to a wall outlet rather than to a computer. A computer USB port may not provide the most reliable charging setup for troubleshooting. Check that the cable is seated correctly and that the contacts are clean. If the cable is damaged or missing, owners of a Charge 6 may need a model-specific replacement cable; do not assume that every Fitbit charging cable is interchangeable.

Can you use a Fitbit with a PC at all?

Yes, but mainly as a secondary tool. Once your Fitbit is set up and syncing through a compatible phone, a Windows PC can help you work with exported information.

Exporting Fitbit health data for use on Windows

Google documents downloading Google Health data, including categories such as activity, exercise, sleep, and heart-rate information. After downloading the export, you can store the files on a PC, make a backup, analyze them in a spreadsheet, or use compatible data-analysis software.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

This is different from live PC synchronization. Exporting gives you a copy of available records; it does not turn Windows into a supported Fitbit host or allow the PC to replace the mobile app during device setup.

Choosing hardware for the current setup

If you already own a Fitbit, the important purchase requirement is a compatible phone—not a Windows Bluetooth dongle. If you are choosing a tracker, verify the model’s current support status and its mobile-app requirements before buying.

For readers who do not yet own a device, the Fitbit Charge 6 fitness tracker is one example of currently supported Fitbit hardware listed in Google’s device and security-support documentation. That support does not create a Windows desktop app: Charge 6 still uses the current mobile synchronization path. Google’s documentation lists security support for Charge 6 through at least February 2028 under the stated conditions, but support policies and app requirements should be checked again before purchase.

Important 2026 transition dates

The Fitbit-to-Google Health transition is time-sensitive:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • May 19, 2026: Google’s guidance identifies this as the date the Fitbit app becomes the Google Health app.
  • July 15, 2026: Current transition guidance also identifies a legacy-data deadline. Because the precise scope of that deadline may depend on the account and data involved, verify Google’s latest instructions and export any records you need before the date.

App names, operating-system requirements, supported devices, account-migration rules, and data-export deadlines can change. Recheck Google’s official support information when setting up a new tracker or updating this article.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a Fitbit app for Windows 10 or Windows 11?

There is no current supported Fitbit desktop download for Windows. Older Windows Fitbit apps and Fitbit Connect instructions are historical and should not be treated as the current setup route.

Can I sync my Fitbit directly to a Windows PC?

The current supported synchronization path uses Bluetooth Low Energy through Google Health on a compatible Android phone or iPhone. A Windows PC can be used for exported data, but it is not the supported live-sync host.

Do I need a Google Account to use Fitbit?

Google’s current setup requirements specify a Google Account. Users with legacy Fitbit accounts must migrate to Google to continue using the service after the May 19, 2026 transition.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Can I pair a Fitbit from my phone’s Bluetooth settings?

No. Turn on Bluetooth, but complete pairing inside the Google Health app. If you already paired it manually, remove it from the phone’s Bluetooth list and retry setup in the app.

What phones support the current Fitbit app?

The current requirements specify Android 11 or later or iOS 16.4 or later. Some phones may still have compatibility problems because of manufacturer software, permissions, Bluetooth behavior, or battery restrictions.

The Bottom Line

Bottom line: Do not download “Fitbit for PC” for Windows. Install or update Google Health on an Android 11-or-newer phone or an iPhone running iOS 16.4 or newer, sign in with a Google Account, enable Bluetooth, and pair the tracker inside the app. Use the Windows PC afterward for exported health data—not for the current Fitbit setup or live synchronization.
