Most Fitbit devices cannot be tracked on a live map or made to ring remotely. The practical recovery method is to check the Fitbit’s last sync time, take your paired phone or tablet to the suspected area, try a manual sync, and then use Bluetooth proximity clues. The main exception is a Fitbit Inspire 2 with Tile activated before it went missing.
1. Check when your Fitbit last synced
Open the Google Health app, which older guides may still call the Fitbit app. App names and menu labels can vary by device, operating system, account, and rollout.
- Open Connections in the upper-left corner.
- Select the relevant Fitbit.
- Look below the device image for the “last synced when” message.
This timestamp is your best starting clue, but it is not a live location. If the Fitbit synced recently, search the places you visited immediately afterward. If it synced hours or days ago, retrace your route from that time. A missing or old sync can mean the Fitbit is out of Bluetooth range, powered off, out of battery, disconnected, or affected by a phone or app permission problem.
2. Try to sync the Fitbit from the likely location
Take the phone or tablet that was paired with the Fitbit to the place where you may have left it. Fitbit devices normally communicate with phones and tablets using Bluetooth Low Energy, so a successful sync is useful evidence that the tracker is nearby.

[IMPORTANT] The blood pressure measurement feature must be downloaded and enabled within the app.
- 【Call and message notifications】: You can receive text messages and SNS notifications (including Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp and Instagram) directly on your wrist. You can set drinking Water Reminders and Sedentary Reminders to establish a healthy way of working.
To start a manual sync:
- Open the Google Health app.
- On the Today tab, pull down and hold to refresh.
- Alternatively, open Connections → Sync.
If syncing succeeds, search the immediate area: bedding, laundry, couch cushions, coat pockets, bags, car seats, bathrooms, charging locations, and anywhere you removed the device. Move slowly between rooms and retry the sync as you go.
A successful sync means the Fitbit responded over Bluetooth. It does not create a GPS location, prove the device is in a particular room, or guarantee that the Fitbit has not moved again.
3. Use a Bluetooth finder to narrow the search
If a normal sync does not reveal the hiding place, use a Bluetooth-finder app on the same phone or tablet. Google’s current lost-device guidance names LightBlue Explorer for iPhone and Bluetooth Finder for Android. These are third-party tools, not guaranteed Fitbit features, and their availability, permissions, interfaces, and pricing may change.
- Install the appropriate Bluetooth scanner or finder.
- Turn on Bluetooth.
- Grant the requested Bluetooth permissions and, where required, Location permission.
- Walk slowly through the suspected area.
- Look for the Fitbit’s device name or a changing signal-strength reading.
- Move toward a stronger signal, then confirm the device by attempting a Google Health sync.
Bluetooth signal strength is only a proximity clue. Walls, furniture, floors, vehicles, bags, radio interference, battery level, and the phone and Fitbit models can all affect it. There is no dependable universal recovery distance; use “within Bluetooth range” rather than assuming a fixed 30-foot or 10-metre radius. A scanner may also show another nearby Bluetooth device with a similar or unfamiliar name.

4. If you have an Inspire 2, try Tile
The Fitbit Inspire 2 is different because it supports Tile. This works only if Tile was installed and activated before the Inspire 2 was lost. You generally cannot add the feature after the tracker has disappeared.
Find an Inspire 2 nearby
- Open the Tile app.
- Select the Inspire 2.
- Tap Find.
- If Tile connects, the Inspire 2 vibrates.
- Tap Done after finding it.
The Inspire 2 must have enough battery to respond locally. Bluetooth and Location Services permissions must also be enabled.
Find an Inspire 2 away from your phone
Tile can show Location History, including the last known place and time the phone and tracker were connected. You can also use Notify When Found; this can alert you if another Tile user detects the tracker on the Tile network. Network recovery depends on another Tile user encountering the device, so it is not guaranteed.
How Tile is activated in advance
With the Inspire 2 nearby:
- Open Google Health and go to Connections.
- Select the Inspire 2.
- Tap Apps → Tile → Install → Install.
- Install and open Tile on the phone.
- Sign in, or use the Google Health option to create an account.
- Tap Add a Tile.
- Under Activate a Tile Enabled Device, choose Google Health, then tap Next.
- Follow the activation instructions on the Inspire 2.
- Confirm activation on the tracker.
Phone versus tablet: what works?
A phone is usually the better recovery device because it is more likely to be the one previously paired with the Fitbit and is easier to carry while searching. A compatible tablet can also work if it has Bluetooth enabled, is signed into the account associated with the Fitbit, supports the Google Health app, and can establish the required Bluetooth connection.

Simply being signed into the same account does not guarantee that every tablet can connect to every Fitbit model. Bluetooth compatibility, app support, permissions, battery state, and distance still matter. Fitbit syncing with phones and tablets uses Bluetooth Low Energy, as described in Google’s syncing guidance.
iPhone and Android differences
The recovery process is essentially the same on both platforms:
- Check the last sync.
- Bring the device into the suspected area.
- Try a manual sync.
- Use a Bluetooth finder if necessary.
The app labels and permissions differ. On iPhone, Google’s guidance names LightBlue Explorer for Bluetooth scanning. On Android, it names Bluetooth Finder. Follow the permission prompts shown by your operating system, and use the Google Health app—not the phone’s general Bluetooth settings—to manage the Fitbit connection.
What to do if the Fitbit will not connect
Failure to sync does not prove that the Fitbit is gone. Work through this sequence:

- Move closer to the suspected location.
- Confirm Bluetooth is switched on.
- Confirm Google Health is open and signed into the correct account.
- Turn Bluetooth off, wait about 10 seconds, and turn it back on.
- Reopen the app and retry the sync.
- Check that Google Health has the required Bluetooth and Location permissions.
- Temporarily disable battery-saving or power-saving mode, particularly on Android.
- Restart the phone or tablet.
Google identifies Bluetooth, Location permissions, power-saving mode, outdated software, and connection state as possible setup and syncing factors in its Fitbit troubleshooting guidance.
Do not factory-reset the Fitbit, remove it from your account, or choose “Forget” in the phone’s Bluetooth settings while it is still missing. Those actions do not reveal its location and can make reconnection harder if you find the device.

A dead or powered-off Fitbit cannot answer a new sync request or Bluetooth scan. Use the last sync time as a historical clue, retrace your route since that connection, search places where you remove or charge the device, and contact relevant lost-and-found departments.
Tile or another tracker service can help only if it was configured before the loss and the feature’s network or battery conditions still allow a response.

Can Google Find Hub locate a Fitbit?
Do not assume that an ordinary Fitbit automatically appears in Google Find Hub. Google’s Find Hub guidance covers supported Android devices, compatible tracker tags, and other supported accessories. It does not establish a general Find Hub location feature for Fitbit trackers and watches.
For most Fitbits, use the Google Health last-sync and Bluetooth process instead. A compatible tracker tag attached to a case, charging pouch, or bag can provide a separate preventive finding system, but it cannot retroactively locate a Fitbit that was lost without the tag.
Does GPS help find a lost Fitbit?
Some Fitbit models can use GPS for exercise recording, either through built-in GPS or a connected phone. That does not mean the Fitbit can transmit its location after it is lost. Exercise GPS and remote device-finding are different functions.
If the Fitbit may have been stolen
A Bluetooth signal is useful for locating a nearby misplaced device, not for confronting someone or proving who has it. If you suspect theft, document the last known time and place, contact the relevant venue or lost-and-found service, and consider a police report or insurance claim. Most Fitbit devices do not provide a reliable theft-recovery map through the ordinary app.
Prevent the next loss
- Inspire 2: Activate its built-in Tile feature while the tracker is still with you.
- iPhone: Consider an AirTag for the Fitbit’s case, gym bag, charging pouch, or another accessory. It tracks the tag, not an unattached Fitbit.
- Android: Consider a tracker tag compatible with Google Find Hub. Network and precision-finding capabilities depend on the tag, phone, and supported features.
- Mixed iOS and Android household: A Tile tracker may be more convenient across both platforms.
- Keep the Fitbit charged and syncing regularly.
- Record the model and serial information for lost-and-found or insurance purposes.
Attaching a separate tracker to a case, band accessory, gym bag, or charging pouch is not the same as giving the Fitbit native tracking. It simply makes the attached item easier to recover next time.
