Open the Oura App and use Locate. Its map shows where the ring was last recorded when it connected to the app; if your phone is nearby, Search can use Bluetooth to help you move toward it. Neither feature guarantees recovery, and the map is not live GPS tracking.
How to find your lost Oura Ring in the app
- Check support and membership. Oura lists Locate for Oura Ring Generation 2 and later with an active membership, on iOS and Android. Its guidance also lists Oura Ring 4 Charging Case and later. See Oura Member Care’s Lost Oura Products page for current eligibility.
- Open Locate. In the Oura App, tap My Devices in the upper-left menu. Alternatively, from the Today tab, tap the battery icon in the upper-right and choose My Devices. Then tap Locate.
- Check the map. If phone location services are enabled, the map can show the ring’s last recorded location and a connection state, such as connected, disconnected, or in the charger. The location is based on the ring’s last connection to the Oura App.
- Search nearby. If your phone is close enough, tap Search beside the ring. Move around with your phone and follow the signal indication, which can progress from weak signal to nearby, very close, and right here. Oura says this works best when the phone is in the same room or apartment as the device.
What Locate can—and cannot—tell you
Locate has two different functions: a map of a previously recorded location and a nearby Bluetooth search. The map is not a live, continuously updated GPS position. It can show only locations recorded before the ring went missing, so enabling location services after the loss will not create a location retroactively.
Nearby Search detects the ring’s Bluetooth signal and does not require Oura location services. It does require the phone to be close enough to detect the ring. If the ring’s battery is depleted and the ring is turned off, Bluetooth search will not work.
| Method | What it provides | Requirement or limit |
|---|---|---|
| Map | Last recorded location and connection status | Phone location services; only locations recorded before the device went missing |
| Nearby Search | Relative Bluetooth signal strength as you approach | Phone must be near enough to detect the ring; unavailable if the ring is out of battery and turned off |
If the ring does not appear or Search cannot find it
- Check your phone settings to make sure location services are enabled for Oura if you need the map.
- Check that your phone is not in low-battery mode.
- If the ring may be nearby, move through the likely rooms with Search open; the feature works best when the phone is in the same room or apartment.
- If the battery is depleted and the ring is off, nearby Bluetooth detection cannot locate it.
Another route to the last recorded location
Oura’s General FAQs also describes a shortcut: on the Today tab, tap the battery icon in the upper-right and select Show latest location. Phone Location Services must be enabled. For nearby Bluetooth searching, use the Locate flow above.
