Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Start by finding out whether the original watch is still with the family, then verify its case-back reference before arranging service or searching for a replacement. A Seiko 7006-8030 is an exact case reference—not just any watch with a 7006 movement—and the available information does not establish whether your friend’s father’s watch is lost, damaged, or still nearby.
How do you identify a Seiko 7006-8030?
Ask your friend for clear photographs of the dial and case back. The case-back reference should read 7006-8030. The caliber family alone is not enough: the 7006 movement was used in multiple case references, so a watch with a 7006 movement is not necessarily the same model.

SEIKO 5 Automatic Black Eastern Arabic Dial Men's Watch SNKP21J1 | $199.01 | Buy on Amazon |
The Seiko Guy’s exact-reference guide identifies the 7006-8030 as a model based on the 7006 movement. It is an independent enthusiast resource, not affiliated with Seiko. Its identification and parts list can help guide an inquiry, but they do not authenticate a particular watch.
Seiko’s Cal. 7006A parts catalogue describes an automatic movement with sweep seconds, day and date, instant date setting, Diashock shock protection, and a Diafix oil-lubrication device. The catalogue lists a 27.00 mm casing diameter, 4.85 mm maximum height, and 21,600 vibrations per hour. These are movement-catalogue measurements; 27.00 mm is not the external width of the watch case.

Do not infer a safe present-day water-resistance rating or call this specific watch a diver based on the reference alone. The available documentation does not establish either point for an individual example.
What should you ask before searching or arranging service?
- Find out where the original might be. Ask whether it is with a relative, in storage, or believed missing. Request any box, papers, or old service records along with the dial and case-back photographs.
- Record what can be seen without forcing anything. Note the case-back reference, visible serial, and apparent condition for a qualified watchmaker. No serial has been provided here, so a manufacture date cannot be inferred.
- Describe its current state. If the watch is available, ask whether it runs, whether the day and date change, whether the crown is present, and whether the crystal or case is damaged. Do not repeatedly operate a stuck or visibly damaged vintage watch.
- Ask about an assessment. Seiko USA’s support page says its service center handles repairs on “almost all Seiko watches,” including “vintage heirlooms,” and directs repair inquiries to the service center. This is a reason to ask, not confirmation that the 7006-8030 will be accepted, that parts are available, or that repair will be economical.
Which parts are listed for the 7006-8030?
The Seiko Guy’s exact-reference guide lists these part numbers. Treat them as leads for a watchmaker to verify against the actual case, not as proof of current stock, originality, or universal interchangeability.
| Part | Listed reference |
|---|---|
| Crystal | 310T19ANS0 |
| Crown | 40M23NS1 or 40M23NA1 |
| Case-back gasket | FH2920B03 |
| Crown gasket | EJ0060B01 |
Before ordering, have a vintage Seiko watchmaker confirm the part against the watch. A matching number in an enthusiast guide does not establish that a part is available or suitable for every variant.

If the original watch still exists, compare a model-specific service assessment with the cost and condition of a verified replacement. No current market value or repair price is established here, so get a quote before treating replacement as the cheaper or easier choice.

Before authorizing polishing or replacement parts, ask what each choice would change and decide whether the priority is originality, wearable condition, or resemblance. No inspection or authentication of a specific watch has been performed.
Where can you start a service inquiry?
Use Seiko USA’s repair and service page to contact its service center and ask whether it will assess a vintage 7006-8030. Include the case reference and clear photographs, and ask about acceptance, an estimate, parts availability, and next steps. The page gives a general service route, not a model-specific promise about price, availability, or turnaround.
