Measure the circumference of the wrist where you plan to wear the watch, keeping the measuring material comfortably close to your skin—not pulled tight. That number describes your wrist, not the finished bracelet length or a guaranteed number of links to remove. Use the watch’s own sizing chart or order process to choose its bracelet size.
Measure your wrist at the intended wearing position
- Choose the wrist and position. Measure the wrist on which you expect to wear the watch, at the spot where it will sit. Bvlgari’s instructions place the tape just below the wrist bone.
- Use a soft measuring tape. Wrap it around your wrist as if it were the bracelet. Keep it comfortably close to the skin, not tight; Bvlgari says the tape should be able to turn comfortably. Record the circumference.
- If you do not have a flexible tape, use paper, ribbon, or cord. Wrap it around the wrist, mark where the ends meet, then lay it flat and measure the marked length against a ruler. CHANEL describes the paper-strip method; Bvlgari also suggests ribbon or cord. CHANEL’s watch size guide and Bvlgari’s bracelet size guide provide their own instructions.
- Note your fit preference. A close fit and a looser fit feel different, but there is no universal allowance to add to every wrist measurement. Follow the sizing guidance for the specific watch.
Wrist circumference is not bracelet length
Your measurement is the distance around your wrist. The finished bracelet length is a separate sizing decision: bracelet construction, individual link lengths, and the watch’s available adjustment options affect how closely a bracelet can be sized. Bvlgari distinguishes wrist measuring from the actual bracelet lengths shown in its chart, and Citizen cautions that link lengths can make the final bracelet size inexact.

There is no conversion from wrist circumference to a universal finished bracelet length or link-removal count. Check the selected model’s own sizing chart or order process. Citizen offers a printable sizing kit or measuring tape guidance, while Tissot provides a printable measuring tool. For a size outside the options on a Tissot product page, Tissot directs customers to contact customer service.

Fit allowances depend on personal preference and the maker’s instructions. CHANEL advises adding some millimeters for a looser fit and suggests trying the watch in a boutique if you are unsure. Bvlgari says its measuring tape should turn comfortably and recommends choosing the larger size when between sizes. Treat these as guidance from those brands, not as a standard that applies to every integrated bracelet. See CHANEL’s guide and Bvlgari’s guide for their respective methods.

Get help with bracelet adjustment
Measuring your wrist is straightforward; changing a metal bracelet’s size is a separate job. Citizen says proper sizing calls for expertise and the right tools. It warns that improper handling can damage pins, create a risk of pin failure, and lead to loss of the watch. If you did not select Citizen’s sizing service, it recommends using a local jeweler. For any brand, consult the manufacturer or an experienced jeweler rather than treating a wrist measurement as do-it-yourself link-removal instructions.
