Turn the watch over and look for the movement or caliber marking on the caseback. Citizen’s US battery information table maps the BM7551-50X to E111-00Z and lists a rechargeable MT621S cell. The battery table identifies the movement; it does not explain how to operate the crown.

What the available Citizen instructions say
The available official B51* manual is for movement B510, not E111. It documents a standard layout in which the crown’s first pulled position corrects the date and its second pulled position corrects the time. It also says to push the crown back to its normal position after setting. These details are useful context, but the B510 manual does not establish that the BM7551-50X uses the same crown operation or direction.

Interim setting steps, pending the E111 manual
- Check the caseback and lookup. Confirm that the marking is E111-00Z, then search Citizen’s manual lookup by BM7551-50X or E111. If the E111 instructions differ from the general layout below, use the E111 instructions.
- Identify the crown positions without forcing the crown. In Citizen’s B510 manual, the normal position is pushed in, the first pulled position is for date correction, and the second pulled position is for time correction. Do not assume this proves the E111 crown positions or date-setting direction.
- Set the time with AM/PM in mind. The B510 instructions note that the date changes at midnight, so distinguish midnight from noon while advancing the hands. Use the E111 manual to confirm the exact time-setting operation for this watch.
- Avoid date correction during the caution window. The B510 manual warns not to correct the date between 9:00 PM and 1:00 AM because the date may not change correctly the following day. This timing warning is documented for B510; confirm it in E111 instructions before treating it as exact-model guidance.
- Return the crown to normal. The B510 manual says to push the crown back to its normal position once setting is complete. Confirm the E111 manual’s final step and ensure the crown is fully returned as directed.
Why the movement-specific manual matters
A model number identifies the watch, while its movement caliber identifies the mechanism whose controls the manual describes. Citizen’s BM7551-50X battery-table entry is evidence that this model is associated with E111-00Z, but it is not a setting procedure. Likewise, B510 instructions are not a substitute for an E111 manual, even when the crown layout sounds familiar.
If the lookup does not return an E111 manual, contact Citizen support with the full model number and the movement marking from the caseback. Until you can verify the procedure, avoid forcing the crown or relying on an assumed date-setting direction.
