Before you begin
- Charge the glasses in their case if needed.
- Install the Meta AI app and have your Meta account ready.
- Check the compatibility information for your exact glasses model and phone. Requirements can vary by generation; for example, Meta lists iOS 15.2 or later and Android 10 or later for the Gen 2 product page cited below.
- Keep the phone and glasses nearby and follow the app prompts during pairing.
Meta identifies the Meta AI app as the companion for managing settings, sharing media, and interacting with Meta AI. Some basic functions, including capture and Bluetooth audio, may work without connecting to the app, according to Ray-Ban support.
How to set up Ray-Ban Meta glasses
- Charge the glasses in the charging case if they need power.
- Install and open the Meta AI app on your phone.
- Sign in as prompted and choose the option to add or set up glasses.
- Follow the app’s pairing instructions. Keep the glasses close to the phone and follow any prompts to enable Bluetooth or grant permissions.
- Once pairing is complete, explore the app’s glasses settings and available features for your model.
App screens can change. If the app cannot find the glasses, consult Ray-Ban’s current pairing and re-pairing instructions rather than relying on older steps that use the former Meta View app name.

What the Meta AI app does
The Meta AI app is the companion for managing glasses settings, interacting with Meta AI, and transferring photos and videos to your phone. Available controls can vary by glasses generation, app version, and region, so use the app’s current device screen as the source for your own settings.
Phone compatibility and one model example
Do not assume that one phone requirement or product specification applies to every Ray-Ban Meta model. Meta’s product page for the Ray-Ban Meta Blayzer Optics Gen 2 lists the following vendor specifications:

Take photos and videos
Ray-Ban Meta glasses are designed for hands-free photo and video capture. Use the glasses’ capture controls and refer to the current in-app guidance or quick-start guide for the controls on your model.
Captured media remains on the glasses until you choose to transfer it to your phone using the app. Meta says the capture LEDs activate when taking photos or recording video for gallery or streaming. Check the app’s import flow and permissions if a capture is not visible on your phone.
Transfer captures to your phone
- Open the glasses area in the Meta AI app.
- Choose the app’s media transfer or import option when available.
- Follow the prompts to transfer captures to your phone.
- Check your phone’s photo library and the app’s current gallery view.
Menu labels and transfer behavior may change with app updates. Consult the current app instructions if these steps do not match what you see.

Try voice and camera features
When supported and enabled, you can say “Hey Meta” followed by a prompt. A camera-enabled request can ask about something you are viewing; Meta’s system card gives identifying a tree as an example. This is an example, not a guarantee that a feature is available, accurate, or supported in every language or region.
Meta notes that some options may not be available to everyone. Check the app and Meta’s multimodal AI system card for information about feature availability and limitations.
Privacy and considerate use
The capture LEDs signal when photos or video are being captured, according to Meta’s responsible innovation information. Be mindful of people nearby, follow local laws and venue rules, and avoid recording where people reasonably expect privacy. Before using a camera-enabled AI prompt, consider that it may involve capturing and processing an image.

Basic troubleshooting
Voice commands are not responding
- Check that voice controls and “Hey Meta” are enabled in the app or glasses settings.
- If they are enabled, try turning them off and back on.
- Restart the glasses by switching them off and then back on.
- If the problem continues, follow Ray-Ban’s current support instructions for your model and app version.
The app cannot connect to the glasses
Keep the glasses near the phone, check that Bluetooth is enabled, and follow the current app pairing flow. If you have paired the glasses before, Ray-Ban’s FAQ includes instructions for unpairing and re-pairing; follow that support flow for your situation.
My captures are not on my phone
Captures remain on the glasses until you choose to transfer them through the app. Check the app’s transfer flow, connection, and photo-library permissions, then consult the current support instructions if the transfer still fails.

Is the companion app still called Meta View?
The current companion app is Meta AI. Older quick-start material may refer to the app by its former Meta View name.
Do Ray-Ban Meta glasses work without the app?
