To share an eligible Apple Wallet item, open Wallet, tap the ticket or pass, tap Share, choose Messages or Mail, and send it. On Apple Watch, open Wallet, tap the pass, scroll down, tap Share Pass, and choose an available option.
These controls appear only when the issuer supports sharing. A pass can be stored in Wallet without being transferable.
Quick answer: share a Wallet pass from iPhone
To share an eligible ticket, boarding pass, coupon, rewards card, or similar pass from your iPhone, open Wallet, tap the pass, tap the Share button, choose an available method such as Messages or Mail, and send it.
This works only when the ticket or pass issuer has enabled sharing. Apple Wallet does not make every pass transferable. If there is no Share button, use the issuer’s app or website to look for Transfer, Forward, Send to a guest, or a similar ticket-management option.
Share a ticket or pass from iPhone
- Open the Wallet app.
- Tap the ticket, boarding pass, coupon, rewards card, or other pass you want to send.
- Tap the Share icon.
- Choose an available sharing method, such as Messages or Mail.
- Select the recipient and send the pass.
The recipient normally has to open or accept the shared item and add it to their own Wallet. Whether they can do that depends on the pass type, their compatible Apple device, the pass’s validity, and the issuer’s rules.

If the Share button is missing
A missing Share button usually means that the merchant, airline, venue, employer, or other organization that issued the pass has not enabled sharing in Apple Wallet. It does not necessarily mean that the ticket can never be transferred.
Open the issuer’s app or website and check the ticket-management area. The issuer may offer its own transfer or forwarding process, or it may restrict the ticket to the original purchaser or a named holder. Apple Wallet cannot override those restrictions.
Share with a nearby iPhone
For a nearby iPhone-to-iPhone transfer, open the pass in Wallet and hold the top of your iPhone a few centimetres from the top of the other person’s iPhone.
- Open the pass in Wallet on the first iPhone.
- Hold the tops of the two iPhones close together.
- Wait for the connection glow or animation to appear.
- Keep the phones together until the pass appears on the other iPhone.
- Tap Share when prompted.
Apple documents this as a nearby sharing method for iPhone users. Both iPhones should be updated to the latest available version of iOS. This is not a universal method for sending a Wallet pass to an Android phone; for other recipients, use an available option in the iPhone share sheet or the issuer’s own transfer system.
Share a pass from Apple Watch
Some eligible passes can be shared directly from an Apple Watch. The watch must have the Wallet pass available, and the pass issuer must support sharing.

- Open the Wallet app on Apple Watch.
- Tap the pass.
- Scroll down.
- Tap Share Pass.
- Choose an available option, such as Messages or Mail, and send it.
Apple documents this feature for certain passes and recipients who use an iPhone or Apple Watch. The option will not appear for every pass. If the watch does not show Share Pass, try the iPhone procedure or check the issuer’s app or website.
What you need
The iPhone is the primary device for adding and sharing most Wallet passes. When a supported ticket or pass is added to the iPhone, it is normally added automatically to the paired Apple Watch as well. If you mainly want to display or share passes from your wrist, an Apple Watch can provide the Wallet access described above, but buying or using a watch does not make an issuer-restricted pass transferable.

Which Apple Wallet items can be shared?
Apple Wallet can contain issuer-created passes such as:
- Event and venue tickets
- Airline boarding passes
- Coupons
- Rewards and loyalty cards
- Other passes distributed by a participating organization
The important qualification is eligible. The issuer decides whether a particular pass includes a sharing control and what happens after the recipient receives it. A pass may be viewable in Wallet but still be non-transferable, tied to a customer account, limited to a named attendee, or restricted to the original purchaser.
Adding a pass to iPhone and Apple Watch
A pass may be offered through the issuer’s app, an email, a website, a QR code, AirDrop, or a Wallet notification. Look for Add to Apple Wallet and follow the on-screen instructions.

For a supported pass, adding it on the iPhone normally places it in Wallet on the paired Apple Watch automatically. If it appears on the iPhone but not on the watch:

- Confirm that the watch is paired with the iPhone.
- Check that the pass type is supported on Apple Watch.
- Make sure both devices are using current software.
- Check whether the issuer requires the pass to be added through its app rather than copied from another device.
Sharing a boarding pass is not the same as sharing flight updates
Some boarding passes have a separate Share Flight Tracker feature. This shares flight-status information and Live Activity updates through Messages; it does not necessarily send the boarding-pass pass itself to another traveler.
If another person needs to board using their own pass, share the eligible boarding pass through Wallet or use the airline’s app or website. Use Share Flight Tracker when the goal is simply to let someone follow the flight’s status.
Troubleshooting Apple Wallet sharing
There is no Share button on iPhone
The issuer probably has not enabled Wallet sharing for that pass. Check the issuer’s app or website for transfer, forwarding, guest-access, or ticket-management tools. Do not assume the pass is transferable just because it is stored in Wallet.
There is no Share Pass option on Apple Watch
Not every pass supports direct sharing from Apple Watch. Open the same pass on the paired iPhone and check for the iPhone’s Share button. If it is missing there too, use the issuer’s system.

The recipient cannot add the pass
Confirm that the recipient is using a compatible Apple device, that the pass has not expired or been canceled, and that the issuer permits the recipient to use it. Some passes are account-bound or intended only for the original holder.
The pass is on iPhone but not Apple Watch
Supported passes added to an iPhone normally appear on its paired watch. Verify the pairing, check whether that pass type supports Apple Watch, and update the devices. If the issuer distributed a special app-based pass, follow that app’s instructions instead.
Nearby sharing does not start
Update both iPhones, hold their tops close together rather than their screens or bottoms, and wait for the connection animation. If it still fails, use Messages, Mail, another option shown in the share sheet, or the issuer’s transfer process.
The ticket cannot be transferred
The issuer may require transfers through its own app or website, or may prohibit transfers altogether. A missing Wallet sharing control is not proof that another transfer route exists. Contact the issuer if its rules or transfer process are unclear.
Important limitation: Wallet is not the ticket issuer
Apple Wallet stores and displays passes created and distributed by other organizations. The issuer controls eligibility, transferability, recipient requirements, named-ticket changes, resale restrictions, and how many devices can hold or use a pass. Wallet can provide the sharing interface, but it cannot remove those restrictions.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can every Apple Wallet ticket or coupon be shared?
No. Apple Wallet sharing is available only for eligible passes whose issuer has enabled the feature. Some tickets are tied to an account, named attendee, or original purchaser.
Does Share Flight Tracker share the boarding pass?
No. Share Flight Tracker sends flight-status updates and Live Activity information. It is separate from sending the boarding-pass pass itself.
How do I transfer a ticket when Wallet has no Share button?
Use the issuer’s app or website. Look for Transfer, Forward, Send to a guest, or ticket-management options. Apple Wallet cannot override the issuer’s transfer restrictions.
