Identify the bracelet before adjusting it
Look closely at the links and clasp, and compare what you see with the watch’s model-specific manual. Some bracelets use pins that push out in the direction marked by arrows; others use small screws. A foldover clasp may offer a small fit adjustment without removing a link, while the Perfect Fit expansion band uses a squeeze-and-pull method. These procedures are not interchangeable.

Choose the adjustment that matches the fit problem

Moving a clasp spring bar changes the clasp position; it is different from removing a full link. Use clasp adjustment for a small correction when your model has the feature. If the bracelet needs a larger change, use the link-removal procedure for its specific construction.

Remove links from a push-pin bracelet
- Find the arrows on the removable links and confirm in the manual that the bracelet uses push pins.
- Place the bracelet securely so the pin can move freely. Use a pointed pin-pushing tool to press the pin in the arrow’s direction until the link separates.
- Remove the number of links needed, keeping the bracelet balanced where possible.
- Reconnect the bracelet and insert the pin from the opposite direction. Press until it sits flush.
Timex notes that these pins are designed to be difficult to remove. That does not mean you should force an unidentified or deforming fastener: confirm the arrows and construction first, then stop if the pin or link begins to bend or damage.
Remove links secured by screws
- Check the model guide to confirm the links use screws. Some Timex bracelets use barrel links with screw-head pins that require a second screwdriver to hold one end.
- For a standard screw-secured link, use a small screwdriver and turn the screw counterclockwise to remove it.
- Remove the required link or links, then reconnect the bracelet.
- Turn the screw clockwise until it is tight and flush. Do not remove links adjacent to the clasp.
Do not use a pin pusher on a screw-secured link. For barrel links, follow the manual’s specific instructions rather than treating them as ordinary screws.

Adjust a foldover clasp without removing a link
Some foldover clasps have a spring bar that fits into a choice of adjustment holes. To move it:

- Use a pointed tool to press the spring bar inward and disengage the bracelet.
- Select the appropriate hole on the bottom side of the clasp.
- Press and align the spring bar with the top hole, then release it so it locks into place.
Confirm that the bar is seated securely before wearing the watch. This adjustment is available only on clasps designed with those holes.

Adjust a Timex Perfect Fit expansion band
Use this method only if your watch actually has a Timex Perfect Fit expansion band. It is not the procedure for a conventional pin-link bracelet.
- Estimate how many links to remove.
- Locate the textured center link.
- Squeeze the textured section opposite the part you intend to remove.
- Continue pressing while pulling the band apart, then remove the needed section.
- Squeeze and reconnect the band.

Check the fit and know when to stop
Timex UK lists general wrist-circumference ranges of 5.9–8.1 inches (150–205 mm) for men’s watches and 5.3–7.5 inches (135–190 mm) for women’s watches. These are regional fit guidelines, not a guarantee for a particular model or bracelet. - Recheck the bracelet’s fastener type and the model manual if a pin or screw resists unexpectedly.
- Stop if a link, pin, screw, or clasp starts to deform, or if you cannot identify the construction.
- Use a watch professional if you lack the right tool or cannot complete the adjustment confidently.
