To sync Garmin with Samsung Health, use Garmin Connect → Health Connect → Samsung Health on Android 14 or later. Garmin sends supported, permission-enabled records to Health Connect after a successful device sync; it does not read data back. If you need configurable historical syncing, Health Sync is a separate third-party alternative.
The short answer
There is no native, full two-way Garmin Connect–Samsung Health connection. On Android 14 or later, the built-in route is Garmin Connect → Health Connect → Samsung Health. Garmin Connect sends supported records to Health Connect after each successful Garmin device sync, but does not read records back. Samsung Health separately synchronizes supported records with Health Connect, subject to permissions.
If you need a separately configured route or historical transfer, Health Sync is a third-party option whose publisher lists Garmin Connect and Samsung Health as supported apps. Its available records and history depend on permissions and service limits; it is not a native Garmin-Samsung integration.
How the connection actually works
The apps do not form a direct pair. Health Connect acts as the Android intermediary:

- Your Garmin watch synchronizes with Garmin Connect.
- Garmin Connect exports supported, permitted data to Health Connect.
- Samsung Health reads supported records from Health Connect and can also write supported records to it, depending on permissions.
Samsung’s integration can synchronize supported records in both directions with Health Connect. That does not make Garmin’s connection two-way: Garmin does not read Health Connect data. Samsung says wearable data first reaches Samsung Health on the phone, and timing can depend on its synchronization policy.
What Garmin data can reach Samsung Health?
Garmin lists the following records it can send to Health Connect. Only overlapping, permission-enabled types supported by Samsung Health can appear there; supported scope may vary with Samsung Health versions. Do not assume every listed Garmin record transfers or appears identically.
| Garmin record type | Examples listed by Garmin | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Activity and exercise | Active and total calories, cycling pedal cadence, distance, elevation gained, heart rate, speed, swimming strokes | Only supported, permission-enabled records and fields may appear in Samsung Health. |
| Wellness | Body fat, floors climbed, sleep stages, steps, step distance, weight | Samsung’s supported scope and record handling can vary by app version. |
| Steps | Steps and step distance | Confirm permissions and supported directions; do not assume values are written identically by both apps. |
| Sleep | Sleep stages | Transfer depends on supported record types and permissions; apps may represent records differently. |
Samsung documents Health Connect support for several record types, including steps, exercise, heart rate, sleep, and weight or body composition fields, but its supported scope is not identical to Garmin’s export list. Samsung also notes that some activity-tracker data is not synchronized.
Option 1: Use Garmin Connect, Health Connect, and Samsung Health
This is the first option to try for supported Garmin records on Android 14 or later.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Before you begin
- Your phone must run Android 14 or later for Garmin’s Health Connect sharing feature.
- Install current versions of Garmin Connect and Samsung Health.
- Your Garmin device must be paired and able to complete a normal Garmin Connect synchronization.
- Health Connect must be available on the phone.
- Grant access for each data type you want to share. Read and write permissions are separate.
Samsung says Health Connect synchronization has been supported since Samsung Health version 6.22.5, released in October 2022. Treat that as a historical minimum, not a recommended version; use the current version available for your phone. Screens and labels may vary by device and software release.
Setup steps
- Update the apps and phone. Install available updates for Android, Garmin Connect, and Samsung Health.
- Enable Garmin sharing. In Garmin Connect, find the Health Connect sharing setting and allow the data types you want Garmin to send.
- Set Samsung Health permissions. In Samsung Health, open Settings → Health Connect and enable the relevant read and write permissions according to your needs.
- Synchronize your Garmin device. Complete a successful device sync with Garmin Connect; Garmin says its Health Connect transfer follows that sync.
- Check Health Connect permissions. Confirm Garmin Connect can write the intended types and Samsung Health can read them.
- Open Samsung Health. Samsung advises opening the app after permissions are changed in Android settings.
- Test a recent record. Check a recent activity or wellness record rather than expecting a complete historical import.
What success looks like
A successful setup means supported, permitted records can become available in Samsung Health after the apps synchronize. It does not guarantee that every Garmin field or old record will appear. Samsung Health may process wearable data according to its own synchronization policy.

Option 2: Use Health Sync when you need another route
Health Sync is a third-party app, not part of Garmin or Samsung’s built-in connection. Its publisher lists Garmin Connect and Samsung Health as supported Android apps and allows users to configure data types and a historical period.
Health Sync may suit readers who need historical transfer or separate routing choices. Its publisher documents Garmin history access limits of up to five years for activity data and two years for other records, such as steps and heart rate. Synchronization proceeds in batches because connected services may limit access frequency. Actual transfer depends on source and destination support, permissions, and platform policies.

- Install Health Sync from Google Play and review its current permissions and privacy disclosures.
- Select Garmin Connect as the source and Samsung Health as the destination.
- Choose the data types you need and configure the historical period if applicable.
- Complete the requested permissions for Garmin Connect, Samsung Health, Android, and Health Sync.
- Test with a recent record, then inspect Samsung Health for missing fields or duplicates.
- If transferring older data, verify the date range and records that actually arrived.
The publisher describes a one-week trial and paid licensing choices. Prices and terms can change, so confirm the current Google Play listing before committing.
Health Sync’s important limitations
- It is a third-party bridge, not a native Garmin-Samsung integration.
- Its publisher documents Garmin history access of up to five years for activity and two years for other records such as steps and heart rate; that does not guarantee every record or field will transfer.
- Not every Garmin record has a matching Samsung Health field, and the receiving app’s supported scope may vary.
- Samsung’s partner-app policy restricts partner apps from writing steps to Samsung Health; do not promise step transfer through Health Sync.
- Using Health Sync and Health Connect simultaneously for the same data can create confusing overlaps or duplicates.
Could Strava solve the problem?
Strava or another shared fitness service may help with selected activity records, but it is not the primary solution for a complete Garmin-to-Samsung Health connection. The available directions and fields depend on the platforms involved, and an activity transfer does not imply transfer of sleep, weight, or other wellness records. Check the current permissions and supported directions for the specific apps before using this route.
Troubleshooting Garmin and Samsung Health synchronization
No Garmin data appears in Health Connect
- Confirm that the phone runs Android 14 or later.
- Update Garmin Connect and check its Health Connect sharing permissions.
- Complete a successful Garmin-device sync; merely opening the app is not enough.
- Check that the watch is paired and Garmin Connect can communicate with it.
- Test a new record rather than relying first on old history.
Samsung Health does not show Health Connect data
- Confirm Samsung Health can read the relevant types in Health Connect.
- Check Samsung Health’s Settings → Health Connect permissions.
- Open Samsung Health after changing permissions in Android settings.
- Install the current Samsung Health version available for your phone.
- Allow time for the apps to synchronize; Samsung Health timing can depend on its device synchronization policy.
Only some metrics appear
This may be expected. Only overlapping, supported, permission-enabled data types can transfer. Samsung’s supported scope can vary by app version, and Samsung notes that some activity-tracker data is not synchronized.
Records appear twice
Disable overlapping routes. For example, avoid using both Health Connect and Health Sync to move the same Garmin record into Samsung Health until you know how each handles it. Test one route with a new record.

Data will not flow back to Garmin Connect
That is a direction limitation, not normally a permissions error. Garmin explicitly says it does not read data from Health Connect. Samsung Health’s ability to synchronize supported records with Health Connect does not send those records into Garmin Connect.
Privacy and health-data considerations
Review every permission screen before approving access. The Health Sync publisher’s disclosures say the app may handle health and fitness data and personal information; check the current Google Play disclosures and each service’s privacy policy because practices and disclosures can change.
These are consumer fitness platforms. Synchronized records are not a substitute for professional medical advice or a medical device when health decisions depend on precise measurements.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Which method should you choose?
| Your goal | Best choice | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Send supported, current Garmin records to Samsung Health | Health Connect | It is the built-in Android intermediary; Garmin sharing requires Android 14 or later. |
| Configure a historical period or another routing option | Health Sync | It is a separate third-party option with documented history limits and platform dependencies. |
| Move selected workouts through a social fitness platform | Strava or another verified shared service | It may support selected activities, but is not a complete health-data route. |
| Send Samsung Health data into Garmin Connect | No supported route in Garmin’s Health Connect integration | Garmin says its transfer is one-way and does not read Health Connect data. |
Recommended order: Try Garmin Connect → Health Connect → Samsung Health first if your phone runs Android 14 or later and the supported data types meet your needs. Consider Health Sync if configurable historical transfer matters, and test one route at a time to avoid overlap.
Sources and version notes
This guidance is based on Garmin’s Health Connect support documentation, Samsung’s Health Connect FAQ and technical guide, and Health Sync publisher documentation. App screens, supported records, and purchase terms can vary or change. Samsung’s version 6.22.5 reference is a historical support fact, not a recommendation to use that old version.
