Rather than adding the complication to the Black Bay or Pelagos families, Tudor placed it in the quieter, dress-oriented 1926 collection. The result is a restrained 39mm automatic watch with a six-o’clock moon display, 100-metre water resistance, and a current U.S. suggested retail price of $3,000.
Tudor’s 1926 Luna is the brand’s first watch with a moon-phase complication—and its arrival is notable for where Tudor chose to put it. Instead of adding a moon display to the sporty Black Bay or Pelagos families, Tudor placed the complication in the quieter, dress-oriented 1926 collection.
The result is a restrained 39mm automatic watch with a moon-phase display at 6 o’clock, 100-metre water resistance, and a current U.S. suggested retail price of $3,000. It is less a technical statement than an attempt to make the traditional moon-phase watch feel approachable, contemporary, and unmistakably Tudor.
Why the 1926 Luna matters
The 1926 Luna expands Tudor in a direction the brand has not emphasized as strongly as its dive and chronometer-led watches. The 1926 collection has always occupied the more formal side of Tudor’s catalogue, with domed dials, applied markers, polished details, and a vintage-influenced character. It is named for 1926, the year the Tudor name was registered on behalf of Rolex founder Hans Wilsdorf.

That makes the collection a logical home for a moon-phase complication, even if it is an unexpected one for a brand best known today for tool-watch families. The Luna is designed for someone who wants the poetry and traditional watchmaking vocabulary of a moon-phase display without moving into a highly complicated or overtly ornate dress watch.
A launch timed around the Mid-Autumn Festival
Tudor introduced the 1926 Luna just ahead of the Mid-Autumn Festival, connecting the moon display with ideas of family, togetherness, and lunar symbolism. That timing gives the launch a cultural context beyond the addition of a new complication to the catalogue.
Tudor also identified musician Jay Chou as a creative collaborator and brand ambassador for the release. The launch therefore appears particularly attuned to Chinese and wider Asian markets, although the watch is not presented as an Asia-exclusive model. Availability, pricing, and stock remain matters for individual markets and retailers.
Three dials, with the champagne model as the standout
Tudor offers the 1926 Luna with black, blue, and champagne-colour sun-brushed dials. Each dial is domed and paired with applied even-numbered Arabic numerals, faceted arrow-shaped hour markers, and sword-shaped hands. The overall effect is traditional without becoming heavily decorative.
The moon phase sits at 6 o’clock, where it forms a symmetrical counterpoint to the 12 o’clock numeral. Its placement also preserves the 1926’s relatively calm dial layout rather than turning the watch into a crowded calendar display.
The champagne version, reference M91560-0001, has the most distinctive visual explanation. Tudor describes a phantom moonlight-gold disc concealed behind a black cutout. As the moon waxes and wanes, the cutout reveals different portions of the gold-coloured disc. In other words, the display is not simply a standard bright moon printed or applied inside a conventional aperture; the dark opening and hidden disc create the visual impression of changing lunar phases.

Case and bracelet: formal proportions with everyday resistance
The polished 39mm steel case is combined with a smooth steel bezel and a domed sapphire crystal. Tudor lists the thickness at 10.1mm and the lug width at 21mm. Those dimensions place the watch in a versatile middle ground: it has the presence expected of a modern men’s luxury watch, but it is not oversized or aggressively sporty.

- Stainless Steel case with Black Resin Band
- Black Dial with date window at 3 O'clock
- Luminous markers and hour hands; sweep second hand
- Anti-reverse bezel
- Water-resistant to 200 M (660 feet)
Finishing alternates between polished and satin-brushed surfaces. The seven-row steel bracelet follows the same dressier approach, using satin-brushed outer links and polished centre links. It closes with a folding clasp and safety catch.
The 100-metre water-resistance rating is useful context. This is not a dive watch, and its moon-phase display and polished design clearly give it a different purpose, but the rating makes it less delicate in specification than many traditional dress watches. Water resistance does not eliminate the need for sensible care around the crown, crystal, seals, and bracelet, particularly as the watch ages.
Calibre T607-9: what Tudor says, and what independent coverage adds
The 1926 Luna is powered by Tudor’s self-winding Calibre T607-9, with an approximately 38-hour power reserve. Tudor says the movement has a rhodium-plated brass enlargement ring, is decorated even though it is hidden beneath a solid case back, and is adjusted to high chronometry standards.
That wording needs to be read precisely. “High chronometry standards” or “chronometer-grade” language should not be rewritten as proof that the watch is formally COSC-certified. The available research specifically distinguishes Tudor’s description from formal chronometer certification, and there is no basis here for calling the 1926 Luna COSC-certified.
Specialist independent coverage identifies the T607-9 as being based on the Sellita SW280-1 architecture and reports a frequency of 28,800 beats per hour. Those details should be attributed to independent coverage rather than presented as a complete official Tudor specification. Tudor’s product information does not expose all of those movement details in the same specification block.
The solid case back means owners will not see the decoration or the moon-phase mechanism during normal use. That is consistent with the 1926 Luna’s understated positioning, although buyers who prioritize an exhibition back may regard it as a missed opportunity.
Price and availability
Tudor’s U.S. product page currently lists the 1926 Luna at a suggested retail price of $3,000. Tudor notes that suggested retail prices can change, so the figure should be treated as current U.S. pricing rather than a permanent worldwide price.

For historical context, independent launch coverage reported approximate September 2025 launch prices of €2,630, US$2,800, and £2,210. Those launch figures should not replace the current official U.S. price when discussing what an American buyer can expect to pay today, and regional pricing may differ.
Tudor directs prospective buyers to its official retailer network. Stock is not necessarily universal, and a retailer’s availability, price, delivery timing, and return policy must be checked in the relevant country. A marketplace listing should not automatically be treated as authorized or authentic simply because it uses Tudor’s name.
What the 1926 Luna does well
- It introduces a traditional complication without making the watch visually busy. The moon phase at 6 o’clock is the focus, but the dial retains the clean structure of the 1926 family.
- The 39mm case is deliberately restrained. It avoids the oversized proportions sometimes associated with statement dress watches.
- The watch combines formal styling with 100-metre water resistance. That does not make it a sports watch, but it broadens its practical specification.
- The champagne model has a genuinely distinctive display concept. The concealed moonlight-gold disc and black aperture give it more visual character than a generic moon-phase execution.
- The Tudor name and automatic mechanical format give it a clear position in the entry-level Swiss luxury segment. That positioning is part of the appeal, although value comparisons depend on the alternatives and prices available in each market.
The compromises to understand before buying
The 1926 Luna is not intended to be a technical breakthrough on the level of Tudor’s most specification-driven dive or chronometer releases. Its appeal is its combination of design, brand recognition, conventional automatic mechanics, and a relatively accessible moon-phase format.
Independent specialist coverage has also pointed to the absence of quick-release spring bars and bracelet micro-adjustment. Those are practical criticisms rather than universal defects: some owners will care about them, while others will prefer the bracelet’s traditional construction. Still, buyers who frequently change straps or need fine-grained bracelet sizing should inspect the adjustment system before committing.
The approximately 38-hour power reserve is another reminder of the watch’s conventional positioning. It is adequate for everyday wear but less forgiving than a movement with a longer reserve if the watch is removed for a weekend and expected to restart without resetting. The moon-phase indication also adds a complication that requires correct setting after the watch has stopped; Tudor’s instructions should be followed rather than relying on assumptions about the mechanism.
Who is the Tudor 1926 Luna for?
The 1926 Luna suits a buyer who wants:
- a relatively understated automatic moon-phase watch;
- a 39mm case rather than a large or highly theatrical dress watch;
- a recognizable Swiss luxury brand;
- a polished, vintage-influenced design that can sit comfortably outside formal occasions;
- 100-metre water resistance without buying a dive watch; and
- a moon-phase complication at a lower entry point than many established luxury alternatives.
It is less suitable for someone shopping specifically for a Tudor sports watch, a transparent case back, a long power reserve, a bracelet with extensive on-the-fly adjustment, or formally certified chronometer performance. It should also not be described as exclusively a men’s or women’s watch: the 39mm case and styling can appeal across those categories, and Tudor’s supplied information does not impose that distinction.

Bottom line
The Tudor 1926 Luna is strategically unusual because it adds the brand’s first moon-phase complication to its most restrained collection rather than its most famous sporty families. At $3,000 in the United States, it offers a polished 39mm case, a distinctive six-o’clock lunar display, 100-metre water resistance, and a conventional automatic movement. Its strongest selling point is not mechanical novelty; it is the balance between Tudor’s accessible luxury positioning and the quiet romance of a moon-phase watch.
