Fitbit can help you make activity, food, water and weight patterns easier to notice, but it does not cause weight loss on its own. Use its tracking tools to support sustainable eating and movement habits—not as a treatment, a guarantee, or an exact measure of calories burned.
What Fitbit can—and cannot—do for weight loss
Depending on your device and app experience, Fitbit tools can help you record activity, food, water and weight, set calorie targets, and review health trends. The current Google Health app overview describes nutrition and water logging, calorie targets and personalized macronutrient ranges; it also says the Health area includes weight and body fat alongside heart metrics. Feature availability can vary by device and software version.
That information can help you spot patterns and decide what habit to adjust. It cannot tell you exactly how much weight you will lose, diagnose a health condition, or replace individualized medical advice. Fitbit’s estimated calorie-burn figure is not an exact measurement.
Build a useful tracking routine
Record a few measures consistently
Choose tracking that helps you make decisions rather than trying to record everything. You might log meals, water, activity and weight, then look for patterns over time. The CDC recommends monitoring steps, physical activity and fruit and vegetable intake daily, and recording weight once a week; weekly weigh-ins are an option if frequent feedback feels unhelpful.
#1 Best Overall
- 【All-day Activity Tracker】: ENGERWALL IP68 Waterproof fitness tracker can record and track your daily steps, calories burned, exercise distance and time. It can also monitor your Body Temp, Heart Rate, Blood Oxygen and Blood Pressure. IP68 waterproof ensures that you don't need to take it off for daily hand washing and swimming, but don't soak it in water for a long time or wear it for hot baths, saunas.

[IMPORTANT] The blood pressure measurement feature must be downloaded and enabled within the app.
- 【Call and message notifications】: You can receive text messages and SNS notifications (including Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp and Instagram) directly on your wrist. When your phone's Bluetooth is turned on, if you receive a message, the watch will vibrate to remind you and you can view the specific message. This function is very practical whether in work or life.
- 【Working Time】: Smart Fitness Watch is the best partner at work, you can set it on the mobile APP ‘Runmefit’: up to 5 sets of alarms, you don’t have to worry about being late for appointments or forgetting important things. You can set drinking Water Reminders and Sedentary Reminders to establish a healthy way of working.
Use trends to make small adjustments
If your records show that activity drops on busy days, try a short walk that fits your schedule. If food logging helps you notice a routine you want to change, focus on one sustainable adjustment. A single day’s scale reading or activity estimate is less useful than a consistent pattern.
Do not treat the app’s calorie target as a prescription. Your needs depend on individual circumstances, and a wearable estimate cannot establish a safe or appropriate calorie deficit for you.

Pair tracking with sustainable habits
The CDC describes healthy weight loss as a lifestyle that includes healthy eating patterns, regular physical activity, enough sleep and stress management. Its guidance says people who lose weight gradually—about 1 to 2 pounds per week—are more likely to keep it off than people who lose weight faster. This is general guidance, not a target everyone should pursue.
Food intake and activity both matter: the CDC says most weight loss occurs from decreasing calories, while physical activity contributes to health and can support weight management. The amount of activity needed for weight management varies. For adults, the general recommendation for overall health is at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity each week plus muscle-strengthening activity on at least two days. That is not a guaranteed weight-loss formula.

Choose manual weigh-ins or a connected scale
| Option | How it works | What to consider |
|---|---|---|
| Manual weigh-ins | Record weight in the app without buying a connected scale. | Simple and avoids dependence on a particular scale’s app compatibility. The current app’s exact labels and steps may vary. |
| Connected scale | A compatible scale can send weigh-ins to an account automatically. | Convenient if syncing works with your current setup. Fitbit’s legacy Aria 2 guide describes Wi-Fi syncing and weight-goal tracking, but does not establish that the scale is currently available or compatible with every current app configuration. |
You do not need a Fitbit scale to track weight. The Aria 2 guide also lists body-fat percentage, BMI and lean mass, but those documented features are not evidence that its body-composition readings are clinical measurements. Check current availability and compatibility before considering any specific connected scale.

Know when to get medical guidance
Weight is affected by more than tracking or willpower. The CDC lists medicines, medical conditions, stress, genes, hormones, environment and age among factors that influence weight management. Speak with a health care provider about weight concerns, medication questions, or calorie and activity goals that need to be tailored to you.
Google Health’s exercise guidance advises people with cardiovascular, metabolic or renal disease, and people unaccustomed to strenuous activity, to consult a doctor before beginning a Fitbit exercise program. If you have a health condition or are unsure what level of activity is appropriate, ask a qualified clinician before increasing intensity.

Protect your food and weight data
Food and weight logs can be sensitive. Fitbit’s privacy policy, last updated February 27, 2026, describes account options to access, export, edit and delete data. Review the policy and controls that apply to your region and account type. The policy says Fitbit use with a Google Account is handled under the Google Privacy Policy, with additional Fitbit FAQs; that arrangement should not be assumed for every account configuration.
