The Huawei Honor Zero is a 2015 wearable with a round touchscreen, basic activity tracking and phone notifications. It looks like a watch, but it is closer to a screen-equipped fitness band than a modern smartwatch: it has no app store, built-in GPS, heart-rate sensor or independent cellular service. Its original features may still interest collectors, but in 2026 an old battery and uncertain phone-app compatibility matter more than its launch specifications.
Quick verdict
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Best suited to | A collector or someone seeking a simple watch display, vibration alerts and basic step and sleep estimates. |
| Not suited to | Buyers who need apps, GPS, heart-rate tracking, payments, independent calling or dependable support for a current phone. |
| Historical battery result | A hands-on reviewer reported slightly more than three days with moderate use; advertised standby figures were much longer and are not normal-use estimates. Gizmochina’s 2016 review and TheTechHacker’s 2015 review describe different kinds of battery claims. |
| Price context | Historical reports put it at about $66–$89.89, with regional prices also reported below £50 or around €66. These are 2015–2016 figures, not a current valuation. |
What is the Huawei Honor Zero?
Announced in June 2015, with availability expected around August, the device appears under several names: Huawei Honor Zero, Honor Zero and Honor Band Zero. Launch coverage from Lowyat records the announcement and planned release. Reviewers variously called it a smartwatch, smart band or hybrid wearable; the practical distinction is that it mirrors selected phone alerts and tracks a few basic activities, rather than running a full smartwatch operating system.
It is not the Huawei Watch. That was a separate, more capable product from the same period, launched with Android Wear, a 1.4-inch AMOLED screen, heart-rate monitoring and a broader smartwatch feature set. Huawei’s Huawei Watch announcement describes that separate device.
Design and display
The Honor Zero has a circular, watch-like body and a textured, diamond-pattern TPU strap. Historical specifications put its weight at about 25 g. Descriptions of the case vary: some call it stainless steel, while others describe a metal or metal-effect surround, so the material should not be treated as independently verified. Reported colors included black, white, silver and khaki, depending on market and seller.

Its small circular screen is commonly specified as a 1.06-inch, 128 × 128 OLED-family touchscreen, often identified as PMOLED. Some coverage uses AMOLED instead, so “OLED-family” is the safer description. Touch is the primary control method; reviewers described the screen as bright and readable outdoors for its era. It is a low-resolution display by current smartwatch standards. Historical reviews and specifications are compiled in TheTechHacker’s review and Gizmochina’s hands-on review.
What can it do?
Time, alerts and simple controls
The watch displays the time with selectable watch faces and uses vibration for alerts. When connected to a phone, it can show incoming-call information, SMS and selected app notifications. Caller details and notification behavior depend on the paired phone and software. Historical coverage also describes call-related controls, such as muting a call on compatible Android phones; that is not the same as placing a standalone cellular call from the watch.
Wrist-raise or wrist-turn activation, alarms and sedentary reminders are among the reported functions. Message text can be limited by the small display, and the phone determines which apps are allowed to send alerts. Synchronization depends on a paired phone and Huawei Wear, rather than a connection of its own. The historical feature descriptions are outlined in TheTechHacker’s product review.
Basic activity and sleep estimates
The Honor Zero tracks steps and sleep, and can provide calorie estimates and inactivity reminders. These are basic estimates, not medical measurements. The evidence does not support treating it as a health-monitoring watch: it has no reliably documented heart-rate sensor, ECG, blood-oxygen sensor, built-in GPS or advanced workout system. A 2016 review specifically identified the lack of heart-rate monitoring as a drawback; see Gizmochina’s review.

Phone compatibility and the Huawei Wear app
Original listings specified Bluetooth 4.1 and compatibility with Android 4.4 or later and iOS 7.0 or later; some sources give the Android minimum as 4.4.4. Those are historical requirements, not confirmation that the Honor Zero pairs with current Android or iOS versions. The device relies on Huawei Wear for setup and synchronization. A 2016 review reported pairing through that app and a firmware update during setup, but current app availability, firmware services and compatibility are not established. Huawei’s current wearable support hub focuses on present-day products and does not establish ongoing Honor Zero support.
A UK reviewer received a Chinese-configured unit and reported that pairing through Huawei Wear corrected the language, date and time. That is one historical setup experience, not a guaranteed fix for an imported or second-hand unit today; see Tech Advisor’s review.

If you are testing a used unit
- Charge it fully and check that it starts, responds to touch and remains on.
- Remove any existing Honor Zero pairing from the phone’s Bluetooth settings.
- Check whether Huawei Wear is still available from a legitimate app store for your phone. Enable Bluetooth and the permissions the app requests for setup and notifications.
- Attempt pairing through the companion app rather than relying only on the phone’s Bluetooth menu.
- If the watch appears linked to another phone, reset it using the device’s available controls, then try setup again.
- Confirm that notifications work and that the watch continues to synchronize. If setup or firmware updating cannot be completed, use the seller’s return option rather than assuming compatibility.
These are cautious checks, not a verified menu-by-menu procedure for 2026 phones. A failed pairing may reflect an unsupported phone, unavailable or incompatible app, regional firmware, denied permissions or a weak battery.
Battery life and charging
Historical specifications list a 70 mAh battery. Advertised claims commonly put ordinary working time at about four days and standby at roughly 14–15 days, but standby is not active-use runtime. In a hands-on review, Gizmochina reported slightly more than three days under moderate use. Another historical account described charging in under an hour, while product material cited roughly 1.5 hours; charger descriptions vary between pogo-pin and magnetic connections. The practical expectation when new was therefore around three days of active use, not two weeks. See Gizmochina’s battery observations and TheTechHacker’s reported specifications.

In 2026, the condition of the original lithium-polymer battery is a major unknown. Ask a seller to demonstrate charging and runtime. Short runtime, unexpected shutdowns, excessive heat, intermittent charging or a lifted screen can indicate a failing battery. Do not charge or use a watch with a swollen battery.

Water resistance: what IP68 means for an old unit
Launch-era product descriptions report an IP68 rating. That rating refers to resistance under specified test conditions; it does not promise permanent waterproofing. Seals can deteriorate with age, damage or repair, so an Honor Zero that has been stored for years should not be assumed safe for swimming, even if the seller calls it IP68. Inspect for cracks and keep the charging contacts dry before charging. For a used or refurbished unit, treat water resistance as unverified unless the seller can provide a current test.

There is no reliable current manufacturer price established for the Honor Zero. Published historical prices varied by market, retailer, coupon and date:
| Historical report | Price reported | Context |
|---|---|---|
| TheTechHacker, 2015 | About $89.89; about $74.79 with a coupon | Product article price and promotional coupon; not a current offer. Source |
| Gizmochina, 2016 | About $66 | Review-era price, not a current market value. Source |
| Tech Advisor, UK review | Under £50 | Historical UK review context. Source |
| Canal Notícias, Portuguese preview | About €66 | Historical European preview. Source |
These figures describe 2015–2016 conditions, not what a working unit is worth now. Any marketplace price today is listing-specific; factor in app compatibility, battery health, charger availability and return terms instead of using the original price as a guide. A reseller listing can help identify the model, but it does not prove current software support or the condition of the individual watch: example product listing.

- Smart Watch is made of special aluminum alloy material. It has passed military-grade tests such as extreme temperature, low pressure, dust resistance, and can be used in harsh environmental conditions
- Smartwatch with text and call features high-quality speakers that support making/receiving calls and even playing music (please make sure you have successfully connected your watch's audio Bluetooth).
- Step counter watch supports multiple sports modes, which include Walking, running, basketball, football, cycling, rope skipping, mountain climbing, etc.
- Fitness tracker provides monitoring functions such as 24-hour real-time activity tracking. (Note: It cannot be compared with hospital equipment, not medical equipment!!)
- Waterproof Men's Smart Watch has no problem washing hands and jogging in the rain (but does not support swimming, diving, shower/sauna, etc.).
Review: strengths and limitations
What it did well for its time
- The round design looked more like a conventional watch than many rectangular fitness bands.
- Its light body and strap were described as comfortable in hands-on coverage.
- The display was reported as readable outdoors, and vibration alerts made basic phone notifications useful.
- It combined step and sleep estimates with simple reminders in a modest wearable.
- Its reported IP68 rating and historical price were attractive features when the device was new.
Where it falls short
- It has no downloadable third-party apps or Android Wear platform, so its smartwatch functions are narrow.
- No heart-rate sensor or built-in GPS means it is a poor choice for serious fitness tracking.
- The display is small and low-resolution relative to current watches.
- Active battery life was around three days in one moderate-use review, and a decade-old battery may perform much worse.
- Phone notifications and setup depend on companion software whose current availability and compatibility are uncertain.
- Imported units may bring language or pairing complications, while used-device water resistance cannot be assumed.
This is a historical assessment based on reviews and published specifications, not a new hands-on test. Contemporary reviews include Tech Advisor and Gizmochina.
Should you buy an Honor Zero now?
- Collector or nostalgia buyer: It may be appealing if the design and history are the point, provided the price reflects its age and the seller accepts returns.
- Basic-notification buyer: Consider it only if you can verify app installation, pairing and notification delivery with your own phone before the return period ends.
- Fitness or health buyer: Choose a currently supported tracker with the sensors and activity features you need; the Honor Zero lacks heart-rate measurement and GPS.
- Smartwatch buyer: Avoid it if you expect apps, payments, navigation, standalone calls or long-term software support.
- Used or new-old-stock shopper: Ask for proof of charging, observed runtime, the correct charger and a clear return policy. A seller’s IP68 claim is not evidence that an aged unit remains water-resistant.
There is no defensible universal 2026 price or current-phone compatibility guarantee. The Honor Zero makes sense mainly as a low-cost collectible or a deliberately limited experiment; for dependable daily use, prioritize a currently supported wearable rather than paying a premium for obsolete stock.
