The Huawei Watch GT 6 is a capable fitness smartwatch, but its headline cycling feature—virtual power—is an estimate, not a replacement for a crank or pedal power meter. It may suit riders who want broad tracking without extra sensors; cyclists who rely on dependable power data for training should use a physical meter.
What the Huawei Watch GT 6 offers cyclists
Notebookcheck’s September 21, 2025 review describes the GT 6 as an attractive smartwatch with a bright display, accurate positioning in its test, broad health tracking and expanded training features. Its cycling pitch is virtual power: Huawei says the watch can estimate power and cadence without a power meter or cadence sensor. Huawei also supports pairing Bluetooth sensors, including power meters, cadence sensors, speed sensors and heart-rate straps. With a power meter connected, the watch can track FTP metrics over time. Huawei’s product specifications describe the feature; the distinction is that virtual power is modeled, while a physical meter measures output at the crank or pedals.
There is an important timing caveat: Notebookcheck reported that virtual power was not fully available during its September 2025 test and was expected in an October delivery. That review does not establish the feature’s present firmware status, so confirm availability on the specific watch and in your region before buying for it.
How reliable is virtual power?
Independent comparisons raise doubts about treating Huawei’s estimate as interchangeable with measured power. In a December 2025 test, Tweakers found the GT 6’s virtual-power readings did not correspond well with its real power meters; it also reported that virtual-power data could not be exported to Strava or other external services in its test. Tweakers’ test is one review, not a broad accuracy study.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
A separate example comes from road.cc’s review of the related GT 6 Pro, not the standard GT 6. On one two-hour ride, the reviewer reported an average of 220 W from a crank meter and 247 W from Huawei virtual power; Strava’s estimate was 199 W. That single ride illustrates that estimates can diverge, but it cannot establish a general error rate for either model. Read the road.cc GT 6 Pro comparison.
For casual ride summaries, a no-extra-hardware estimate may be useful context. For pacing, structured workouts, comparisons between rides or FTP-based decisions, rely on a compatible physical power meter rather than assuming virtual power is equivalent.

Battery life: choose the size with its real trade-off
Huawei’s official UK specifications, accessed in 2026, give different maximum estimates for the two standard-watch sizes. These are manufacturer figures, not results from Notebookcheck’s review; Huawei says actual duration varies with use, environment and product differences.
| Model | Light use | Typical use | Always-on display | Outdoor sport mode |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 46 mm | Up to 21 days | Up to 12 days | Up to 7 days | Up to 40 hours |
| 41 mm | Up to 14 days | Up to 7 days | Up to 5 days | Up to 25 hours |
The 46 mm model has the longer stated endurance, including in outdoor sport mode; the 41 mm option is smaller but has lower listed durations. Check Huawei’s size-specific specifications for the conditions behind the estimates.

Positioning, heart rate and health features
Notebookcheck reports that dual-band GNSS tracked its test route accurately, including between buildings. Huawei separately claims a 20% increase in positioning accuracy for its Sunflower system; that percentage is a manufacturer claim, not an independently validated result in the review.
In Notebookcheck’s bike-ride comparison with a Polar H10 chest strap, the watch’s heart-rate readings had small deviations. The review also found oxygen-saturation readings slightly below a Braun pulse oximeter across three comparisons. These are limited device comparisons, not clinical validation. Notebookcheck said an atrial-fibrillation analysis app was unavailable at the time of its test, so check current regional firmware and approvals rather than assuming that function is available.

Smartwatch limits and safety considerations
The GT 6 supports iOS and Android, but it is not a full Apple Watch or Wear OS app ecosystem. Notebookcheck notes that calls depend on Bluetooth proximity to a phone, notification replies are more limited on iPhone, Google Fit syncing is limited, and sharing to Strava and Komoot is available. Its review also identifies inconvenient mobile-payment support and a minimum screen brightness that can remain too high in some situations.
There is no built-in mobile connection. Emergency-contact functions therefore rely on the paired phone being available; do not treat the watch as a standalone way to contact emergency services.

Which GT 6 makes sense for you?
- Choose the 46 mm if you want the longer battery estimates and are comfortable with the larger size.
- Consider the 41 mm if a smaller watch matters more than the lower listed battery duration.
- Consider it for cycling if you want a general fitness watch and are comfortable treating virtual power as an approximate extra metric.
- Look elsewhere or pair a physical meter if you need measured power for training, or depend on a mature app and data-export ecosystem.
