Hublot presented it in 2013 as a simplified, miniaturized interpretation of the ancient Antikythera mechanism, in a limited edition of 20 pieces. Its appeal is the unusual astronomical display, not just its precious-metal or titanium case.
What the MP-08 Antikythera SunMoon is
Hublot describes the MP-08 as a wristwatch interpretation of the ancient Antikythera mechanism, with 295 components and seven complications. The company says the mechanism has been simplified and miniaturized for the watch. Its dial combines conventional central hours and minutes with solar and lunar calendar information and indications for the sidereal positions of the Sun and Moon. Hublot states that the edition comprises 20 pieces. Hublot’s product page presents titanium and King Gold versions; a product page listing is not evidence that either version is currently available to buy.
How the astronomical displays work
Time and seconds
Hours and minutes are shown by central hands. The flying tourbillon rotates once per minute and serves as the seconds indication, according to Hublot’s instruction manual.
Sun, date and Moon
A hand ending in a Sun marker is moved to a selected date along the outer dial zone. The Moon hand shows the lunar phase in a circular window and indicates the Moon’s sidereal position. Taken together, these displays make the dial a mechanical astronomical calendar rather than a conventional date watch. Hublot’s manual says, “All of the indications are found on the dial side”.

What is not reproduced
The wristwatch is an interpretation, not a miniature reproduction of every feature of the ancient device. Hublot’s MP-08 instruction manual puts one distinction plainly: “Unlike the Antikythera Mechanism, there is no indication on the underside (back).”
How to set and adjust it
The watch has two crowns, with different jobs. Hublot’s manual describes the operating controls as follows:
- Crown at 3 o’clock: winds the mainspring and sets the time.
- Crown at 9 o’clock: moves through the lunisolar calendar in either direction.
The calendar is therefore adjusted mechanically at the watch rather than through an electronic interface. Consult the official MP-08 instruction manual for the manufacturer’s operating guidance.

Hublot’s product page does not give case dimensions. A 2026 Watch Advice article reports 49 mm by 20.8 mm, but that is secondary reporting rather than a dimension confirmed on the official product page. Treat it as a reported figure, not a manufacturer specification. Watch Advice’s 2026 article
What one historical wrist impression says about fit
In a 2014 account of a Hublot factory visit, a WatchProSite contributor said the watch felt large on their 17.5 cm wrist and looked better in person than in photographs. That is one person’s historical impression, not a general fit assessment or a current hands-on review. WatchProSite’s 2014 factory-visit account

Price, edition size and availability
Hublot states that the edition consists of 20 pieces, but rarity does not establish whether a watch is available now or what it is worth on the secondary market. Historical retail reporting provides context, not a current valuation:
| Reported date | Price information | Source context |
|---|---|---|
| 2013 | €220,000 for titanium reference 908.NX.1010.GR | Launch coverage by The Watch Observer |
| 22 September 2016 | €240,000 recommended retail price in France | The Watch Observer’s later price listing, which labels the model discontinued in its catalog |
Neither figure is a current retail price or a verified current asking price. Hublot’s product page reviewed here does not list prices, and current inventory has not been established. Before considering a listing, verify the exact reference, condition, provenance and seller; a page that still describes the watch is not proof of stock.
