A visit to Zero West’s Emsworth studio
In his February 11, 2020 Fratello Watches feature, Ben Hodges recounts driving from London to Emsworth, Hampshire, to visit Zero West. He describes the studio, called The Old Boat House, as overlooking a millpond. The article also reports that the building had served as a wartime shadow factory for aircraft fuselages; that historical detail is Hodges’s account.
The visit provides a setting for the brand’s land, sea and air design themes. The article says Zero West watches carry coordinates on their dials for the location on which the design is based, but does not attribute that statement to a named speaker.

Hodges notes that the company made straps in-house and recommends trying the watches on rather than judging their wearability from dimensions alone. That is a useful distinction for these designs: case size and layout can suggest how a watch might wear, but they cannot replace an on-wrist fit check.
How Zero West’s current collections differ
The 2020 feature is a historical visit, not a guide to the current lineup. Zero West’s official catalog now presents Z-Ops Editions, Longitude Series, AirSpeed and HiOctane models. Listed examples include L3 and L4 Longitude, S1 Spitfire and M1 Mosquito, and some catalog entries are marked “EDITION CLOSED.” A current listing does not establish that any of the three watches in Hodges’s article remains available.
On its homepage, Zero West describes its watches as mechanical and limited in production, and characterizes Longitude as marine and travel chronometers, AirSpeed as aviation-inspired, and HiOctane as motorsport-focused. These are the brand’s own descriptions. For a present-day model comparison, check each live product page: the sources here do not provide a consistent set of dimensions, movements, materials, water resistance, prices and availability for every current reference.
Planning a studio viewing
Zero West’s contact page currently says the Emsworth studio is open for viewings on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. by appointment. The listed address is 41 Bridgefoot Path, Emsworth, Hampshire PO10 7EB. Contact the studio before traveling to confirm hours and access, since schedules can change.
