Bovet 1822 made two one-off reversible tourbillon timepieces for the Rolls-Royce Boat Tail commission. Each can be worn as a wristwatch or converted into a table clock, pendant or pocket watch; a bespoke holder also lets it serve as a dashboard clock in the car. They are owner-specific creations, not a documented retail watch collection.
What watches were made for the Rolls-Royce Boat Tail?
The pair was developed by Bovet 1822 and Rolls-Royce Motor Cars for the first Boat Tail iteration. Rolls-Royce describes the car as an owner-led coachbuilt creation, and the timepieces were designed as part of that bespoke commission rather than as an off-the-shelf model.
Both watches use Bovet’s patented Amadeo reversible case. That construction allows each timepiece to be configured in several ways: worn on the wrist or converted for use as a table clock, pendant or pocket watch. The owners could also place them in a specially made holder in the Boat Tail dashboard, where they function as the car’s clocks.

The watches share Boat Tail-inspired details but have distinct finishing and reverse-dial artwork.

The matching veneer links the front dials to the car’s aft deck, while the contrasting reverse sides make each piece personal to its owner.
Tourbillon movement and dashboard use
Both timepieces have tourbillon mechanisms and a stated five-day power reserve. Rolls-Royce says they were designed to keep time when mounted vertically as dashboard clocks. That is the marque’s description of their intended use, not an independently reported performance test.

How long did the Boat Tail watches take to make?
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars said in its 2021 release that, at a conservative estimate, the design, engineering, sculptures, miniature painting, marquetry, bespoke movements and cases took 3,000 hours in total to complete. Bovet separately describes the collaboration as taking three years in development. These are different measures: the former is a reported total of work hours, while the latter is the project’s development span.

The official accounts describe two unique timepieces made for the Boat Tail commission. They do not state a public price or provide a retail purchasing route. Nor do they establish the owners’ identities, current resale availability or a public way to commission an identical pair, so a rumored price or assumption of availability would be speculative.
