The Aquaman-themed IWC Aquatimer Perpetual Calendar Digital is a pair of 2023 limited-edition dive watches created with Warner Bros. Pictures for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. The red-accented IW379405 and blue-accented IW379406 each combine a 49 mm black Ceratanium case with an automatic flyback chronograph and digital perpetual calendar.
What are the Aquaman-themed IWC Aquatimers?
These are two film-linked editions of IWC’s Aquatimer Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month, rather than a separate, ongoing Aquatimer collection. Monochrome Watches reported that IWC partnered with Warner Bros. Pictures and that the watches’ red and blue glowing details were inspired by prop watches supplied for the film’s production. The color identifies the reference: IW379405 is red, while IW379406 is blue. Monochrome Watches’ 2023 launch coverage describes the two editions.

What is the case and bezel setup?
The 49 mm case is 19.5 mm tall and made from black Ceratanium, which IWC describes as a proprietary alloy combining titanium’s lightness and mechanical resistance with ceramic properties. Monochrome reports sapphire crystals on the front and caseback, a screw-in crown, a Ceratanium caseback ring, and 100 m water resistance.
#1 Best Overall
- Automatic L888 Movement, Hours, minutes, seconds, and date. Screw-down case back
- Brown Leather strap with buckle
- 5 Year International Warranty
The Aquatimer’s SafeDive arrangement links an external ring to an internal rotating bezel. Turning the outside ring therefore moves the inner timing scale, allowing the elapsed-time bezel to be operated without a conventional exposed internal bezel crown. The reported strap is vented rubber, fitted with a Ceratanium pin buckle and quick-change system.
How do the digital calendar and chronograph work?
Both references use IWC’s automatic calibre 89802, an integrated column-wheel chronograph movement with flyback function and digital perpetual calendar. The large date and month appear in double-digit displays beneath an open honeycomb-pattern dial section; the movement also provides a leap-year indication. Small seconds sit at six o’clock. Monochrome reports 51 jewels, a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and a 68-hour power reserve.
Rank #2
- Automatic L888 Movement, Hours, minutes, seconds, and date. Screw-down case back
- Blue Leather strap with buckle
- 5 Year International Warranty
The shared movement and layout mean the meaningful functional difference between the two editions is not the calendar or chronograph, but the red or blue luminous accents on the hands and bezel indications. The black dial and case provide the backdrop for either color.
