The blue-dial Rolex Milgauss Ref. 116400GV-0002—known as the Z-Blue—is distinguished by an electric-blue dial beneath green sapphire crystal, with an orange lightning-bolt seconds hand. Rolex discontinued the Milgauss line in 2023, so finding this configuration now means shopping the secondary market. The design details below are documented by Rolex; no personal wear test is claimed.
What makes the Milgauss Z-Blue distinctive?
Rolex’s brochure identifies the blue-dial configuration as “Z-BLUE” and describes its dial as electric blue. The green sapphire crystal adds a contrasting tint, while the orange lightning-bolt seconds hand supplies a third, brighter accent. Rolex specifically links that hand to the electric-blue dial in its description of the model.
The full reference used for the blue configuration is 116400GV-0002. Naming the reference matters when searching: the Milgauss also appeared in other dial configurations, so “blue Milgauss” alone is less precise.
Rolex’s Milgauss brochure describes the case material as Oystersteel, part of the 904L steel family, and the Oyster bracelet as a metal bracelet made of three-piece links. Those are the manufacturer’s material and construction descriptions, not independent performance findings.

Why is the Milgauss crystal green?
The green crystal is a defining part of the GV design, not merely a colored dial treatment: the blue Z-Blue dial sits beneath it, creating the model’s distinctive layered color combination. Rolex says, “Green sapphire crystal marked a first in watchmaking when it was introduced on the Milgauss in 2007.” That claim concerns the green sapphire crystal introduced on the Milgauss; it should not be read as a broader claim about every colored sapphire crystal.
Is the Rolex Milgauss 116400GV discontinued?
Yes. Phillips reports that Rolex introduced the Z-Blue 116400GV in 2014 and kept it in production until 2023. Hodinkee reported the Milgauss discontinuation on March 27, 2023, including the green-crystal Z-Blue version, and WatchCharts labels the reference discontinued. The practical result is that buyers should expect to source it pre-owned rather than as a current-production model from Rolex.

How much does a blue-dial Milgauss cost?
WatchCharts reported an authorized-dealer retail price of $9,300 in February 2023 for Ref. 116400GV. Its later figure is a different kind of measure: a $11,059 pre-owned market estimate dated September 27, 2026. These figures are not simultaneous offers or directly comparable prices. The estimate is not a quote for a particular watch, and neither figure guarantees what a specific buyer will pay; an individual listing’s condition, completeness, seller and location matter.

Search using the exact phrase “Rolex Milgauss 116400GV Z-Blue” or reference 116400GV-0002 to narrow results to the blue configuration. Treat each listing as its own purchase decision: a model name or search result does not establish that a watch is authentic, correctly described or being offered by an authorized seller.
