Berneron introduced the Quantième Annuel on 1 September 2025 as the first watch in its Quantième collection. It combines a manually wound annual-calendar movement with an unusual cross architecture, a 38 mm Pt950 platinum case reinforced by replaceable 904L steel contact parts, and an officer-style case back.
The current black execution is listed at CHF 140,000 excluding VAT. Production is limited to 24 watches per year for each dial colour, with allocations handled directly by Berneron. It is an annual calendar rather than a perpetual calendar, so the calendar requires correction on February 28 each year.
What the Berneron Quantième Annuel is
The Quantième Annuel extends Berneron’s independent-watchmaking approach, first seen in the Mirage, into calendar mechanics. Its purpose is to present calendar information through a deliberately staged combination of jumping apertures, sweeping hands and a retrograde date indication rather than a conventional arrangement of printed subdials.
Berneron positions it as a watch that can be worn regularly, but its 30-metre (3 ATM) water resistance, precious-metal construction and 10 mm profile make it a refined dress or collector watch—not a sports watch.

How the annual calendar works
It corrects once a year
An annual calendar knows the length of every month except February’s leap-year variation. The Quantième Annuel therefore runs through the months automatically but needs a correction on February 28. It does not apply the four-year leap-year rule on its own as a perpetual calendar would.
Calibre 595 separates time and calendar regulation
Calibre 595 is manually wound and uses what Berneron calls a “cross architecture.” Separate regulation systems govern timekeeping and the calendar, allowing the two functions to be treated independently within the movement.
Berneron identifies the greatest energy demand as the simultaneous changes around December 31. To handle those jumps, the movement stores energy in four places corresponding to 12 hours, 24 hours, seven days and 31 days.

Display layout
The display uses four instantaneous jumping apertures, two sweeping hands and a retrograde date. The apertures carry the jumping calendar information, while the sweeping and retrograde indications provide the remaining time and date information. This sequencing is central to the watch’s visual identity, although Berneron’s published specification does not assign every indication to a named aperture in the summary material.

A platinum case with replaceable steel contact parts
Layered construction
The case is primarily Pt950 platinum, with a six-piece layer of 904L steel at high-contact surfaces. Berneron’s casing explanation gives the mass split as 85% platinum and 15% steel.
The design keeps platinum’s density, heft and lustre while placing the harder steel components where a case is most exposed to knocks and rubbing. Those six steel parts can be removed and replaced if they are damaged, avoiding the need to treat the entire platinum case as a disposable contact surface.

Officer case back
A crown-activated, spring-loaded officer cover protects the movement. The design descends from pocket-watch practice and gives the back a practical role beyond decoration: Berneron says it helps shield the calibre from impacts, limits ultraviolet exposure that can affect lubrication, and creates a surface suitable for engraving.
What it is like to wear and use
Compact dimensions, formal water resistance
At 38 mm wide, 45 mm from lug to lug and 10 mm thick, the watch has restrained dimensions for a modern complicated watch. The 30-metre rating supports ordinary splash exposure but does not make it appropriate for swimming or water-focused activity.

The 120-hour reserve can carry the watch across a working week when fully wound, but the movement is manual rather than automatic. Owners must wind it periodically and correct the annual calendar after February’s final day.

Daily-wear practicality has limits
The separate regulators, staged indications and energy storage are sophisticated solutions to a demanding mechanical problem. In practical terms, the watch is best suited to an owner who values that engineering and accepts the care expected of a high-complication dress watch: limited water exposure, attention to the annual correction and protection of its precious-metal case.

Limited annual output
Berneron limits production to 24 pieces per year for each dial colour. The brand’s FAQ gives the Opalin Silver Series A as an example of a fixed series plan: 240 pieces delivered over ten years. That example shows how the annual allocation figure fits into a longer production schedule, rather than implying unlimited yearly availability.
How to request an allocation
Availability is requested directly from Berneron by WhatsApp or email. This is an allocation process rather than a normal retail purchase with stock held for immediate checkout.
Warranty and long-term service
- Warranty: two years, according to the product page.
- Recommended service interval: five to ten years depending on use.
- Local route: Berneron can supply a trusted watchmaker with a spare-parts kit.
- Swiss route: the watch can be returned to Switzerland for repair and ten-year maintenance.
The replaceable steel contact pieces are part of that ownership proposition: they provide a defined way to address wear in exposed areas while preserving the platinum body of the case.
Who the Quantième Annuel is for
This watch makes the most sense for a collector who wants an independently developed annual calendar, unusual indication choreography and a hand-finished precious-metal object in a relatively compact case. It is less suitable for someone who needs a perpetual calendar’s leap-year autonomy, sports-watch water resistance or the convenience of a mass-market service network.

When comparing it with other high-complication watches, the useful questions are whether an annual rather than perpetual calendar meets your needs, how readily you can read and correct its indications, whether the case construction suits your wearing habits, and what VAT, import taxes and servicing arrangements add to the headline price. Published specifications establish those trade-offs; they do not by themselves prove that the Berneron is superior to a particular competitor.
Verdict
The Berneron Quantième Annuel is a technically ambitious annual calendar built around a five-day manual-wind calibre, a distinctive jumping-and-retrograde display and a platinum case engineered with replaceable steel wear surfaces. Its CHF 140,000 pre-VAT price, direct allocation process and 24-piece-per-dial-colour annual production make it an exceptionally scarce collector watch. Its practical appeal depends on whether you value that mechanical and material approach enough to accept a February correction, formal water resistance and specialist ownership requirements.
