Introduced in March 2023, it combines Bovet’s patented flying tourbillon and spherical winding system with a stated 10-day power reserve. Its defining appeal is as much the visible craft as the complication: the open architecture exposes movement components on both sides.
What makes the Virtuoso XI distinctive?
Bovet’s official model page describes the Virtuoso XI as the first skeleton timepiece in the brand’s more than 200-year history. Monochrome’s March 29, 2023 introduction called it Bovet’s first fully skeletonized timepiece since Pascal Raffy took over the House. These are related but differently framed milestones, so each is best kept with its source.
The dial and movement are skeletonized around the components, allowing the architecture to be seen from the front and back. Bovet says the movement is in-house, hand-wound and hand-finished, and that the components are beveled by hand before engraving. The Fleurier XI’s execution is credited to Bovet’s workshop in Tramelan.
Movement, functions and specifications
The watch is powered by Bovet’s hand-wound manufacture movement, with a patented flying tourbillon and patented spherical winding system. Bovet specifies a 10-day, or 240-hour, power reserve, supported by an in-house hairspring and regulating organ.

Pascal Raffy, owner of Bovet, described the model as one that “combines modern high watchmaking with artisanal hand-finishing and hand-engraving.”
Case options and dimensions
Bovet’s official specifications list two 44 mm by 13.75 mm case variations. The official page calls the white-gold version a Fleurier Writing Desk case and lists an 18K red-gold version at the same dimensions. Monochrome’s March 2023 article instead calls the 44 mm 18K white-gold case a “Writing Slope.” The sources therefore differ in their name for the white-gold case; the distinction should not be silently collapsed.

Monochrome also reports sapphire crystals on the front and back and 30 m water resistance. The official model specifications reviewed here do not state water resistance. The five-year warranty is listed by Bovet.
How much handwork goes into it?
The open construction makes finishing a central part of the watch’s identity, not a detail hidden beneath a dial. Bovet describes hand beveling before engraving and engraving on both sides of movement components.

Monochrome reported on March 29, 2023 that more than 60 artisans worked on the timepiece and that production was limited to one or two watches per month, attributing the rate to the skeletonization, hand engraving and hand decoration involved. Those are dated figures from that article, not a confirmed current production rate.
