Three Heritage 1938 references, two different watch layouts
The 2023 Heritage 1938 expansion comprises two center-seconds Chronometer references and a separate Small Second model. The distinction matters when checking specifications or looking for the exact watch: the Small Second is reference T142.428.11.082.00, while the Chronometer models are T142.464.16.062.00 in anthracite and T142.464.16.332.00 in salmon.

What distinguishes the Small Second
Subdial, date and movement
The Small Second places its seconds display in a subdial at 6 o’clock and includes a date at 3. Its ETA 2895-2 automatic movement is reported with a 42-hour power reserve and chronometer certification. Monochrome Watches noted in its article history that certification was confirmed in an update dated November 9, 2023. Case and dial
The Small Second is reported as a 39 mm steel watch measuring 9.8 mm thick, with a domed sapphire crystal, display back, 50 m water resistance, dark grey dial and Arabic numerals. Those are published specifications rather than hands-on measurements. Although the related center-seconds reference also measures 39 mm across, its reported thickness is 11.1 mm.
Bracelet and extra strap
Monochrome reports that the Small Second comes with a steel Milanese mesh bracelet and an additional grey leather strap, both using quick-release spring bars. Do not assume strap dimensions or compatibility from the center-seconds model: Tissot’s official listing of a 20 mm lug width applies to reference T142.464.16.062.00, not the Small Second.

The watches share the Heritage 1938 name and a 39 mm reported diameter, but the Small Second has its own reference, movement and display layout. Choose based on the details that matter to you rather than treating the Small Second as a color or strap option for the center-seconds Chronometer.
- For a separate seconds subdial and date: the Small Second, T142.428.11.082.00.
- For central seconds: the Chronometer references, T142.464.16.062.00 in anthracite or T142.464.16.332.00 in salmon.
- For a thinner reported case: the Small Second at 9.8 mm, compared with 11.1 mm for the center-seconds models.
- For a bracelet included in the reported package: Monochrome lists a Milanese mesh bracelet with the Small Second, alongside an extra leather strap; the center-seconds variants are reported on leather straps.
Launch prices and checking the exact reference
The published prices are historical launch-era figures, not confirmed current prices. Monochrome listed EUR 1,045 in its article updated November 9, 2023; SJX listed US$1,050 in 2023. These are figures in different currencies from separate publications, not a direct price comparison or a statement of current retail value.
