Its recrystallized titanium bezel interprets the sword’s blade pattern, while a colored titanium-alloy band draws on the blue-shell lacquer of its scabbard. The watch launched in Japan in November 2024 at a listed suggested retail price of ¥1,100,000 including tax.
What is the Juryoku-Maru: San?
Juryoku-Maru: San is a katana commissioned by Casio as an inspiration for its MR-G watches. The blade was forged by master swordsmith Kamiyama Teruhira. Its scabbard, finished in an aogai blue-shell-lacquer style, was designed by Nomura Mamoru, the third-generation head of Kyoto-based SAGARADEN NOMURA, who works in lacquer and mother-of-pearl inlay techniques. The MRG-B2000JS-1A is the watch that translates those objects and crafts into a wristwatch.
Casio announced the model on October 24, 2024, describing it as a worldwide limited edition of 800 pieces. Each watch has a serial number. That edition size describes the production run; it does not establish current stock or resale availability at any particular seller.
How the watch interprets the sword
A patterned titanium bezel
The bezel is made from recrystallized hybrid titanium, combining layers of pure titanium and Ti64. Casio says the material is compressed, cut, polished and recrystallized to create a pattern that evokes the temper pattern on the katana blade. Because the resulting pattern varies during manufacture, the bezel’s appearance differs from watch to watch.

- Mineral Glass
A blue structural-color band
The band uses DAT55G titanium alloy treated to produce structural color inspired by the scabbard’s aogai shell-lacquer appearance. Casio says DAT55G is three times harder than pure titanium and that the band has a DLC coating for abrasion resistance. The color is a material treatment, not a shell-lacquer finish.
Hilt, blade and artisan details
The dial’s hishimaki-gara diamond pattern refers to the traditional wrapping seen on a sword hilt; the indexes take their cue from a blade’s curve. On the case back, Kamiyama hand-engraved 燦, the kanji used for “San,” on each individual watch. Casio says the engraving and finished appearance vary, making these craft details individual rather than identical across the run.

The MRG-B2000JS-1A is more than a color variant: its defining choices map specific watch components to specific sword-making references. The bezel expresses the blade’s temper pattern through a variable recrystallized surface; the band refers to the scabbard through structural color; and the dial and case back carry hilt-inspired geometry and a hand-engraved character. The result is a limited MR-G whose individuality comes partly from variation in the finish, not just from its numbered production run.
