The Grand Seiko SBGX353 is a 34 mm quartz watch in the Elegance Collection, introduced in 2022. Its pale-blue, snow-inspired dial and slim stainless-steel case give the Skyflake a distinct identity from the newer 33 mm SBGX361. The SBGX353 runs on Grand Seiko’s 9F61 caliber, rated to ±10 seconds per year under the launch specification’s stated temperature conditions.
What is the Grand Seiko SBGX353 Skyflake?
The SBGX353 is a no-date, stainless-steel dress watch from Grand Seiko’s Elegance Collection. Grand Seiko introduced it in September 2022 and scheduled availability from December of that year. Its dial draws on the image of blue sky reflected on snow around the Shinshu Watch Studio in central Japan. The brand describes it as “the snow-inspired pattern of the pale blue dial.” Grand Seiko’s US product page and its 2022 launch announcement identify the watch and its inspiration.
How does the SBGX353 work?
The watch uses Grand Seiko’s quartz Caliber 9F61. The launch specification gives accuracy as ±10 seconds per year at temperatures between 5°C and 35°C. That is a stated specification, not a guarantee of identical performance in every environment or over every interval.
The 9F61 is a no-date caliber, consistent with the SBGX353’s clean dial layout. The US product listing states magnetic resistance of 4,800 A/m.

How is the SBGX353 different from the 33 mm SBGX361?
The SBGX361 is a separate, newer Skyflake reference, announced in 2026 as part of a pair of 33 mm Snowflake and Skyflake watches. It is not a renumbered or revised SBGX353. The distinction matters because the two models differ in collection, caliber, dimensions and presentation.
