Greubel Forsey’s Hand Made 2 is a 40.9 mm white-gold, manually wound watch made at a pace of just two to three pieces a year, according to the brand. Its headline claim is unusually extensive hand production: the 270-component watch takes more than 5,000 hours to complete, and the company says 96% of its components are entirely handmade.
What is the Greubel Forsey Hand Made 2?
Hand Made 2 is a four-hand mechanical watch showing hours, minutes, small seconds and power reserve. Greubel Forsey presents it as a continuation of its hand-watchmaking approach; the Fondation Haute Horlogerie (FHH) describes it as following the original Hand Made. The available sources place the model’s introduction in 2025, but do not establish an exact unveiling date.
The watch has a white-gold case measuring 40.9 mm across and 12.80 mm thick. It is manually wound, runs at 21,600 vibrations per hour and has a stated 72-hour power reserve. Water resistance is rated to 30 metres. These specifications are listed on Greubel Forsey’s official Hand Made 2 page; the FHH also identifies the movement as manual-winding.
What makes Hand Made 2 so extensively handmade?
Greubel Forsey says the watch’s visible and hidden components are created, finished and assembled by hand. Its 96% figure refers to the share of components the company says are entirely handmade, not a claim that every component is made this way. The brand also says completing the 270-component watch requires over 5,000 hours, with annual production limited to two or three pieces. The specification block on its product page sets the yearly limit at three.

The balance spring is made and adjusted by hand
The balance spring is one of the clearest examples of the process. Greubel Forsey describes selecting an alloy, coiling and cutting the spring, then manually adjusting its terminal curves. The FHH likewise highlights the balance spring among the components made in-house by hand, and says the work is held to tolerances measured in microns. This is a labor-intensive sequence of operations on a small, function-critical part—not simply hand assembly of a movement built from standard components.
Finishing is part of the construction story
The official description lists five bridge finishes: frosted surfaces, black polishing, straight graining, polished flanks and bevels, and polished chamfers. The bridges are accented with olive-domed jewels set in gold chatons. The company also describes hand-frosted German silver and a large conical jewel as distinctive features. Together, these details make the handwork visible in both the movement’s surfaces and its architecture.
What does the dial and movement look like?
Grand Feu enamel dials display the hours, small seconds and power reserve. Blued-steel hands, red rubies and exposed movement components add contrast to the predominantly metallic construction. The open dial reveals part of the gear train; according to the FHH, the regulating organ sits at 7 o’clock, opposite the barrel. The FHH explicitly notes that the watch has no tourbillon.
Greubel Forsey calls Hand Made 2 “the ultimate pursuit of hand watchmaking.” That is the manufacturer’s characterization of the project; the concrete basis for it is the stated component share, labor time, balance-spring work and finishing described above.

How much does the Hand Made 2 cost?
The available published figures differ, and Greubel Forsey’s product page does not state a price. The FHH lists an indicated price of CHF 620,000 on its current model entry, while Time and Watches reported CHF 602,000 in an article dated February 1, 2025.
