Horage introduced its K3 automatic caliber in March 2025, with the DecaFlux as the first watch designed to use it. The movement combines a silicon escapement and hairspring with COSC chronometer certification, and is designed to support several display configurations. The original DecaFlux was listed with a 96-hour power reserve; Horage later cited more than 100 hours for newer DecaFlux PR and Date versions, so reserve figures should be tied to the specific model.
What is the Horage K3?
The K3 is an automatic movement developed by Swiss watchmaker Horage. The DecaFlux was the first watch Horage said would use it. In its March 2025 introduction, Fratello described the caliber as automatic with manual winding, a screw-balance regulating system, and a standard configuration with 26 jewels. Fratello’s article was labeled a partnership post.
The launch-era specifications reported by Fratello are a 30 mm diameter, 4.2 mm thickness, and 25,200 vibrations per hour (3.5 Hz). These figures describe the movement, not the dimensions of the finished watch. The original DecaFlux listing gives the watch a 40 mm case, 9.98 mm thickness, 46 mm lug-to-lug length, and 100 m water resistance. What is distinctive about its silicon components?
Horage identifies silicon in two parts of the K3: the escapement and the hairspring. The escapement regulates the release of energy from the mainspring, while the hairspring helps govern the balance’s oscillation and therefore the timekeeping rate.

The engineering rationale is that silicon’s low mass can reduce energy demand, while its surface characteristics can reduce friction and the need for lubrication. Silicon is also resistant to corrosion and temperature changes, and the components themselves are less susceptible to magnetic influence than conventional materials. Those are material-level advantages, not a promise that the entire watch is immune to magnetic fields or every operating condition. Horage’s DecaFlux manual specifically warns that very strong magnetic forces can affect any mechanical watch and advises keeping the watch away from strong magnetic sources.
How accurate is the K3, and what does COSC mean?
Horage’s movement material and Fratello’s launch coverage identify the K3 as COSC-certified, with a stated rate of -4/+6 seconds per day. COSC is the Swiss organization that tests watch movements against chronometer standards. The stated range is a certification specification; it is not an independent measurement of the rate of every finished DecaFlux in daily use. The available material does not provide independent, model-by-model rate tests.
How long is the Horage K3 power reserve?
For the original DecaFlux configuration introduced in 2025, Horage’s product listing and manual state a 96-hour, or four-day, reserve. That is the figure to use when referring to the original watch rather than treating a later number as its universal specification.

In a September 24, 2026 journal entry, Horage CEO Andi Felsl said the newer DecaFlux PR and DecaFlux Date continue the platform with more than 100 hours of reserve. He said Horage’s internal testing often sees figures near 106 hours. These are Horage’s claims about the newer variants, not independent test results, and they should not be generalized to every K3 configuration. Horage’s journal entry discusses the iteration.
Felsl wrote, “When we launched the DecaFlux in March 2025, I never viewed it as a finished product.” He described the updated models as part of that process: “The new DecaFlux PR and DecaFlux Date are part of that ongoing process.”
Which functions can a K3 movement support?
Horage designed the K3 as a platform rather than a single fixed display. Its stated configurations include central seconds and variants with small seconds, a date display, or a power-reserve indicator on the movement side. The functions are not necessarily all present on every watch: the specific DecaFlux version determines the display and complication combination.

Horage has also said it is open to working with like-minded watchmakers and views the K3 as a basis for cooperation with other brands. That is an invitation to collaborate, not evidence that a third-party brand has adopted the movement.

Horage’s launch proposition was to offer a watch with silicon movement components and COSC certification at a broader price point than such technology is often associated with. Fratello’s March 2025 partnership post reported an entry price of CHF 2,750 for a Swiss-made K3-powered watch. Horage’s shop listing displayed CHF 2,750 when reviewed in 2026; price and availability can change, so check the live listing for current details.
That positioning is best judged across the complete watch, not one headline specification. Useful comparison points include the reserve for the named caliber version, movement size and frequency, certification and regulation, silicon components, available functions, and the finished watch’s price and specifications. A long reserve or silicon parts alone do not establish that one movement is better than another.

Winding and magnetic-field care
For a stopped DecaFlux, Horage’s manual suggests turning the crown clockwise about 40 times to get it started. The automatic movement then winds while the watch is worn or on a watch winder. Follow the manual’s magnetic-field guidance: ordinary magnetic resistance in the silicon components does not make the watch safe from every strong magnetic source.
