The Berneron Quantième Annuel is a 38 mm manual-winding calendar watch that puts time on a vertical axis and calendar information across a horizontal one. Its annual calendar follows 30- and 31-day months but needs a correction for February, so it is not a perpetual calendar. Berneron’s current Silver model page lists a platinum-and-steel case, a five-day power reserve and a price of CHF 140,000 excluding VAT.
What makes the Berneron Quantième Annuel different?
This is the first watch in Berneron’s Quantième collection and the independent brand’s move into a more mechanically complicated calendar watch. Its central design decision is the separation of information: hours, minutes and seconds are arranged vertically, while weekday, retrograde date and month appear horizontally. Fratello’s September 2025 launch report and Monochrome’s September 11, 2025 hands-on describe the reading sequence as top-to-bottom for time and left-to-right for the calendar.
Berneron presents two dial executions: opalin silver and lacquered black. The vertical time display includes a jumping-hour indication; the calendar combines four instantaneous jumping apertures, two sweeping hands and a retrograde date, according to the brand’s current Silver model page.
How does the annual calendar work?
An annual calendar accounts for months with 30 or 31 days, but it does not automatically account for February’s shorter length. Berneron says this watch needs a correction once a year on February 28. Monochrome explains the conventional annual-calendar logic as treating February as 29 days, which means three corrections are theoretically needed over a four-year cycle. Either way, this is an annual calendar, not a perpetual calendar: it does not automatically handle February’s actual length in every year.

Setting controls and safeguards
Monochrome reports that the crown positions set the date and time, while two correctors integrated into the case adjust weekday and month. Its hands-on account says there are no “dead zones” for corrections and describes a safety device that resets an invalid date to the first of the following month. Berneron characterizes the quick-set procedure as protected by a break-proof safety mechanism. These are reported operating details and a manufacturer description, rather than independent durability test results.
Calibre 595: architecture and specifications
Berneron says calibre 595 uses a “cross architecture,” with separate regulators for time and calendar indications. The brand says several indications can jump together at midnight on December 31; to manage the associated energy demand, it uses a double barrel and distributes energy storage across four intervals.

There is a published power-reserve discrepancy worth noting. Fratello’s September 2025 launch coverage and SJX’s August 2026 hands-on report give 100 hours, while Berneron’s current specification lists 120 hours. The figure above follows the current brand-published specification; the older reports’ 100-hour figure should not be treated as interchangeable with it.
A platinum core with replaceable steel contact pieces
For the Silver model, Berneron lists a Pt950 platinum case with six removable and replaceable 904L steel components. Its current specification gives a 45 mm lug-to-lug distance, 10 mm thickness and 30 m (3 ATM) water resistance. Monochrome reports that the steel pieces account for 15% of the case mass, with the remaining 85% in platinum.

Berneron’s stated rationale is that platinum can scratch easily and be tedious to repair. The brand says the steel elements protect vulnerable contact areas and can be replaced during the watch’s life. Those are the manufacturer’s durability and maintenance claims, not independently verified test findings.
The caseback is an officer-style hinged cover, opened by a spring mechanism integrated into the crown. Berneron says it protects the movement from impacts and shields its lubrication from UV exposure; the cover can also be engraved. The current model page lists sapphire crystals on both sides and a leather strap.

Price, production and availability
Berneron’s current Silver model page lists CHF 140,000 excluding VAT and production of 24 pieces per year, allocated on demand. Its FAQ describes staged launch pricing: CHF 120,000 in year one, CHF 130,000 in year two and CHF 140,000 from 2028. The FAQ also gives the Opalin Silver Series A total as 240 pieces delivered across ten years. These are figures published by Berneron.
Berneron says shipping is included worldwide, while buyers are responsible for exchange fees and taxes due in their own country. Once an allocation is secured with a deposit, the FAQ says the agreed price remains unchanged. The brand directs prospective buyers to contact it for current availability; no delivery timing or present allocation can be inferred from the annual production figure alone.

Warranty and servicing
Berneron lists a two-year warranty and says service intervals may range from five to ten years depending on use. It describes two service routes: qualified local watchmaker service under the brand’s conditions, with a parts kit supplied by Berneron, or return to its workshop in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. Its FAQ also describes return to the Swiss workshop for repair or ten-year maintenance. The brand’s FAQ provides its service and purchase terms.
