What is the Kurono Tokyo Chronograph 3 Hisui?
HISUI (翡翠) refers to the jade theme behind this model. The Chronograph 3 Hisui is a Japanese-made, automatic chronograph with a date display, two chronograph subdials and a central timing hand. Its polished steel case and familiar dial arrangement frame an unusually expressive green finish rather than an unconventional complication.
Kurono’s product page describes it as a limited-production watch and says it “will not be repeated.” The brand’s official page is the primary source for the design description and specifications: Kurono Tokyo Chronograph 3.
What is the Hisui inspired by?
Kurono says designer and watchmaker Hajime Asaoka was inspired by a jade pebble he encountered at Itoigawa, a place associated with jade in Japan. Asaoka describes the design this way: “On the new Chronograph 3 HISUI:翡翠, I have attempted to reproduce the raw stone color of hisui.” He explains that a single hue did not achieve the effect he wanted, so he layered colors.

The dial is a rendering of jade, not a dial made from natural jade. Kurono describes a jade-green band around the main indices, a radial green finish created with pointillism, and micro-metallic particles intended to suggest mineral inclusions. A glossy lacquer topcoat sits over layered coloration on an off-white lacquer base. The two subdials have a light-turquoise, radially guilloché-finished surface. These details give the dial its mineral-like variation while leaving the hands, indices and subdials in a conventional chronograph arrangement.
What movement does it use?
According to Kurono’s published specifications, the Hisui uses the automatic Seiko Instruments NE86 movement. The manufacturer lists 34 jewels, a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and an approximately 45-hour power reserve. Functions are hours, minutes, seconds, date and chronograph. These are manufacturer-published figures, not independently measured results.
How big is the Chronograph 3 Hisui?
Kurono lists a 38 mm case diameter and 46.8 mm lug-to-lug measurement. Its stated thickness is 11.7 mm, increasing to 13.5 mm when the box sapphire is included. The lug width is 20 mm. Those dimensions, rather than diameter alone, are useful when judging how the watch may sit on a wrist; fit will also depend on wrist shape and personal preference.

The 3 atm rating is the figure Kurono publishes; it should not be treated as a swimming or showering recommendation. For strap replacement, 20 mm is the stated lug width, but buyers should confirm that a replacement strap’s fit and attachment are compatible with the watch.
Is the Kurono Hisui sold out?
Yes. Kurono’s official product page marks the model sold out and says the limited-production watch will not be repeated. That status describes the original release, not the availability of individual watches through resale channels.
What was the launch price?
Kurono listed a worldwide price of USD 3,460 excluding VAT and a Japanese domestic price of JPY 561,880 including tax for the 2023 release. Worldwide preorders opened on 21 November 2023 at 11:00 and 23:00 JST. The original ordering terms included a 50% preorder payment and a 50% balance before fulfillment.
