The MAEN × Nico Leonard Jump Hour is MAEN’s first watch to replace conventional hands with two rotating discs: an instant-jump hour and continuously scrolling minutes. Built in the Grand Tonneau MNL.01/MNL.02/MNL.03 family, it combines a modified automatic Seagull ST1721 movement with a compact steel case and integrated rubber strap. The preorder ran only from April 7 to 13, 2025, and MAEN says the watch will not be rereleased.
What the MAEN × Nico Leonard Jump Hour is
MAEN developed this timepiece in an exclusive collaboration with watch commentator Nico Leonard. It is the brand’s “first-ever Jump Hour timepiece,” using a digital-style mechanical display rather than hands. The hour changes instantly at the top of each hour, while the minute indication scrolls through its cycle.
It belongs to the Grand Tonneau collection and is offered under the MNL.01, MNL.02 and MNL.03 references. The exact dial treatment depends on the reference. MAEN’s collection materials list black, green and white options; Fratello’s launch coverage describes black, forest-green and vibrant-red sunray versions. Check the reference designation carefully when identifying a particular example.
How the jump-hour display works
Two rotating discs instead of hands
The modified movement drives separate hour and minute discs. The hour disc remains on the current hour and snaps to the next one at 60 minutes, creating the characteristic “jump.” The minute disc scrolls around the display rather than being indicated by a conventional minute hand.

Why the mechanism matters
Jump-hour displays require the movement to store and release enough energy to move the hour disc cleanly while also driving the minute indication. MAEN identifies the mechanism as an “In-House Modified Automatic Jump Hour (ST1721).” The underlying Seagull ST1721 is automatic, but MAEN modifies it for the disc display and says each movement received two weeks of in-house testing before assembly.

Materials and everyday wear
Case and crystal
The 316L steel case uses a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment. A closed, screw-down caseback keeps the movement hidden and contributes to the stated 5 ATM resistance. That rating is suitable for normal daily exposure and surface-water activity, but it is not a specialist diving specification.
Integrated FKM strap
The custom FKM rubber strap has quick-release hardware and narrows from 20 mm at the case to 16 mm at the clasp. Its 316L butterfly buckle includes micro-adjustment and decorative perlage finishing. Because the strap is integrated into the case design, replacement options may be more limited than for a watch using standard straight spring-bar lugs.

Price, preorder and availability
Launch price
Fratello reported a launch price of EUR 999 excluding VAT in 2025. The official MNL.03 product page, accessed in 2026, displays EUR 999.20 including VAT. These figures are not directly interchangeable: VAT treatment and regional tax rules account for the difference.
Order window
MAEN states that the preorder opened at 16:00 CET on April 7, 2025 and closed at 23:59 CET on April 13, 2025. Production was based on orders placed during that strict six-day window, and the brand says there will be no rerelease.

Can you still buy one?
The official MNL.03 page currently shows “Pre-order closed” and offers a notify-me form rather than an open checkout. That means new orders are not available through the original preorder. A later purchase would depend on an owner selling an example or on any stock MAEN may separately disclose; the stated no-rerelease policy makes the original order window the key route to ownership.
Warranty
MAEN’s official warranty statement covers the watch for two years from the date it arrives.
