The MB&F Legacy Machine 101 EVO is a more activity-ready take on the compact LM101, retaining its three-dimensional display and oversized balance wheel while adding an 80 m water-resistance rating, screw-down crown, integrated rubber strap and FlexRing shock absorber. Introduced in 2025, it is a manually wound luxury watch with a 40 mm case and a stated 60-hour power reserve—not a watch whose specifications alone establish suitability for every sport or active setting.
What is the MB&F Legacy Machine 101 EVO?
The LM101 family dates to 2014. MB&F introduced the EVO version in 2025, the company’s 20th-anniversary year, as a more robustly specified evolution of its compact Legacy Machine 101. The concept remains focused on three mechanical-watch essentials: the balance wheel, the time display and the power-reserve indication.
Its defining visual feature is a 14 mm balance wheel suspended above the movement, making the regulating mechanism the focal point rather than hiding it beneath a conventional dial. Hours and minutes are shown on a separate display, with a power-reserve indicator also present. The three-dimensional movement was developed in-house by MB&F; the brand credits Kari Voutilainen with its aesthetics and finishing specifications.
What changed on the LM101 EVO?
The EVO designation refers chiefly to a package of case and wearability features. MB&F says a patented FlexRing shock absorber sits between the case and movement to help protect the watch during active use. The watch also adds a screw-down crown, an integrated rubber strap and a manufacturer-rated water resistance of 80 m / 8 ATM. These are published specifications, not evidence of independent testing or a guarantee for any particular activity. The rating should not be read as permission to operate the crown underwater.

The movement also gains a longer stated reserve than the standard LM101: 60 hours rather than 45 hours. The EVO keeps the 40 mm diameter but is 16.5 mm thick, compared with 16 mm for the standard model.
How large is the MB&F LM101 EVO?
MB&F lists the case at 40.0 mm across, 16.5 mm high and 49 mm from lug to lug, with a 17 mm lug width. The top crystal is high-domed sapphire and the caseback is box sapphire; MB&F lists anti-reflective coating on both sides of each crystal. Those dimensions give a fuller picture than diameter alone, particularly because the domed crystal and three-dimensional construction contribute to the watch’s visual height.

Movement and indications
The manually wound movement uses a single slipping mainspring barrel and has a stated 60-hour power reserve. MB&F specifies a bespoke 14 mm balance wheel with traditional regulating screws, a Straumann double hairspring and a frequency of 18,000 beats per hour (2.5 Hz). The movement comprises 233 components and 23 jewels, according to the brand.

The comparison shows the EVO’s emphasis: it is slightly thicker, has 15 additional hours of stated reserve and adds features intended to better accommodate wear beyond a strictly dress-oriented setting. Its specifications do not make it equivalent to a purpose-built sports or dive watch.
How much does the LM101 EVO cost?
MB&F’s e-shop displayed a price of CHF 62,000 excluding taxes for the Legacy Machine 101 EVO on 2026-10-08. This is a dated brand-site listing, not a universal checkout total: currency conversion, local taxes, stock and final purchase price depend on location and availability.
