The Moritz Grossmann Enamel Roman Vintage is a white-gold, eight-piece limited edition introduced in 2024 for the Glashütte manufacture’s 16th anniversary. Its glossy black enamel dial sets white Roman numerals against a red XII, while the hand-wound calibre 100.1 supplies a restrained mechanical counterpoint. This is reference MG-003717—not the earlier ENAMEL ROMAN references MG-000804 or MG-000807.

What makes the Enamel Roman Vintage distinctive?

The visual idea is simple and precise: a black enamel field, white Roman numerals and a single red XII. The dial also carries a subsidiary-seconds display. Handcrafted polished steel hands complete the face. The case is white gold, giving the watch a formal, monochrome frame without competing with the dial’s red accent.

Moritz Grossmann introduced this reference as a 2024 novelty for its 16th anniversary. The manufacturer lists only eight pieces. That edition size describes the announced production, not whether any example remains available today.

How is its enamel dial made?

According to Moritz Grossmann, making one dial takes approximately 90 steps over several days. Enamel is applied in layers, with repeated firing and cooling. Cracks, bubbles or flaking at any stage can render a dial unusable, so the process involves rejecting imperfect work rather than simply adding a final glossy coating.

The numerals, scales and historic “M. Grossmann” lettering are enamel as well. The maker says they are applied by pad printing and fired. The approximately 90-step figure is the manufacturer’s description of its process, not an independently audited production measurement.

What movement and setting system does it use?

The watch is powered by the manually wound manufacture calibre 100.1. Moritz Grossmann specifies 198 parts, 20 jewels—including three in screwed gold chatons—and a 42-hour power reserve when fully wound. The movement runs at 18,000 semi-oscillations per hour and is regulated in five positions.

It is a pillar movement with untreated German silver components, a hand-engraved two-thirds plate and a curved cut-out that reveals the balance. Its functions are hours, minutes and subsidiary seconds; the seconds hand can be stopped for setting.

The “Grossmann winder with pusher” is the watch’s crown-and-pusher hand-setting arrangement. A short pull of the crown stops the movement and enters setting mode. After setting the hands, the crown returns to its normal position; pressing the pusher restarts the movement and restores winding. The manufacturer says this arrangement is intended to limit particle ingress during setting and prevent the hands from shifting accidentally as the crown is returned.

How does it differ from other Enamel Roman watches?

Reference matters: MG-003717 is the black-dial, white-gold Roman Vintage edition described here. Moritz Grossmann separately lists earlier ENAMEL ROMAN watches under references MG-000804 and MG-000807, so those names should not be treated as interchangeable with this eight-piece release. The manufacturer’s 2025 catalogue also describes an Enamel Arabic in steel. Its different case and numeral treatment make it a distinct option, not an established like-for-like substitute.

What was its launch price, and what about availability now?

Monochrome Watches reported a launch retail price of EUR 62,800 including taxes in coverage dated 13 November 2024. That is a dated launch figure, not a verified current price or resale valuation. The manufacturer’s stated eight-piece limit does not establish present stock or whether a particular example can be purchased; current availability has not been verified.

What should owners know about servicing?

Moritz Grossmann recommends service at intervals of three to five years. Its service guidance names the manufacture’s service department in Glashütte and the retailer from which the watch was purchased as authorized channels. The manufacturer also recommends checking safety-relevant parts, including spring bars, strap, clasp and caseback screws. Consult the official service guidance for the maker’s instructions.
