The brand’s detailed 2024 specifications and launch price, however, are for a separate edition called TYPE 3 Black—not confirmed BB2 specifications.
What makes the TYPE 3 BB2 look different?
Ressence describes the BB2 as an almost pitch-black TYPE 3. Its dark treatment makes the changing positions of the flush, rotating discs the visual focus. Instead of a stationary dial with hands sweeping over it, the display’s indicators move as the discs rotate, giving the watch a continuously changing graphic quality.

The BB2’s official product page identifies the edition and its 2024 award, but does not publish a BB2-specific specification table. Details for another black edition should therefore not be assumed to apply to this watch.
How does the TYPE 3’s oil-filled display work?
In the TYPE 3 design, the upper chamber is filled with oil to reduce the visual distortion caused by light refraction. Ressence says this makes the indicators seem to sit on the glass, producing a projected, glass-like effect. The 2024 release gives the oil volume for TYPE 3 Black as 3.57 ml; that figure is specific to that edition in the release, not a separately confirmed BB2 measurement.

Oil changes volume as temperature varies. Ressence uses a bellows system to compensate for that expansion and contraction, and the display’s temperature gauge represents the compensation system. Founder Benoît Mintiens has described the oil-based projection as an experience reminiscent of a digital screen, while the caseback design aims to give the watch a more monolithic, pebble-like form.
What does Ressence’s 2024 TYPE 3 Black release specify?
Ressence’s press release dated 20 September 2024 gives the following figures for TYPE 3 Black. They are useful context for the TYPE 3 family, but should not be read as confirmed BB2 specifications.

The release scheduled the launch of TYPE 3 Black and TYPE 3 White for 3 October 2024 at 9 a.m. CEST. It listed TYPE 3 Black at CHF 38,200 excluding taxes. Ressence’s TYPE 3 page says the BB2 received the Red Dot Best of the Best distinction in 2024. The page does not state a current BB2 price or inventory, so availability will need to be confirmed with a retailer. Use Ressence’s official press center or the TYPE 3 product page for the brand’s published information, then contact a retailer through Ressence’s retailer finder to verify the exact BB2 edition and location.
