The “39” in the name is the model-family size, not the measured diameter. Case height depends on the caseback: 8.4 mm with a stainless-steel back and 8.5 mm with a sapphire crystal back. All three dials share the same in-house DUW 3001 automatic movement and the same 20 atm (200 m) water-resistance rating.
What NOMOS launched, and why the 39 mm size was added
NOMOS Glashütte’s launch release, dated 27 September 2023, said the Club Sport range already offered 37 mm and 42 mm cases and had been missing a 39 mm option. The new size fills that gap. CEO Uwe Ahrendt put it this way: “That’s history! Now we also offer this particularly attractive diameter.”
The release positions the three models as automatic sports watches with warm, late-summer dial colors, a link bracelet and 200 m water resistance. The product designers described the intended wearer in these words: “For us, these watches are wearable for everyone, but what we had in mind here was primarily active and successful men who want a watch that fits 24/7.” That is the manufacturer’s own description of the target customer.
Model name versus actual case size
“39” identifies the model family. NOMOS specifies the case diameter as 39.5 mm. When you compare this watch with others, use 39.5 mm; a “39” label on a listing does not give the true measurement.

The three dial colors
The collection launched in tabac, ember and smoke. NOMOS’s published finish details are available only for smoke, so the table shows what is stated for each color and marks the rest as not stated.

Case, caseback and thickness
Thickness is the figure most likely to differ between versions, so match it to the caseback. The official product page for reference 764 lists both caseback options within that product family, which means a listing that names only “764” does not tell you which back you are buying. The figures below are NOMOS and launch-press specifications; this article does not rely on any hands-on measurements.

The reference 764 smoke page gives the rest of the case specification: a screwed stainless-steel case, 39.5 mm diameter, 49.5 mm lug-to-lug, and a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating on its inner side. The 20 mm bracelet uses quick-change spring bars. The data sheet for reference 763 does not state which dial it covers, so do not assume it matches a specific color.
Water resistance: what the 20 atm rating means
NOMOS rates the watch at 20 atm and describes it as suitable for diving. The launch release gives the same protection as 200 m. A rating like this is a manufacturer figure for a new, undamaged case. It does not cover the following:

- A crown that is not fully screwed down, or a crown that has been operated while the watch was wet.
- Worn, damaged or dried-out gaskets, or a cracked crystal.
- Use conditions the manufacturer does not cover, such as saturated diving, prolonged immersion or contact with hot water.
Read the instructions for the specific reference and have seals checked at the intervals NOMOS recommends before relying on the rating in water.

All three models use the in-house DUW 3001, which NOMOS calls a neomatik movement with its swing system. The current official smoke page lists a power reserve of up to 43 hours, and the 2023 data sheet gives the same figure. “Up to” is a manufacturer maximum. Real-world reserve varies with wear and winding habits, and this article does not verify the figure independently.

Checking the version and current price
- Confirm the dial color (tabac, ember or smoke) and the reference number in the listing.
- Check the caseback. A steel back should show 8.4 mm height; a sapphire back should show 8.5 mm.
- Confirm the bracelet is the 20 mm version with quick-change spring bars.
- Look up the current price on NOMOS Glashütte’s official website, which provides a retailer finder, and compare it with the seller’s listing. The €2,820 and €3,120 figures are 2023 launch prices, not current quotes; prices vary by region and retailer.
