Reference 5980/60G-001 belongs to Patek Philippe’s Nautilus collection. The manufacturer describes it as a self-winding flyback chronograph with date. The watch is supplied with two blue-gray straps: calfskin with a denim pattern and white stitching, and composite material with a fabric pattern and white stitching. The denim-toned description is apt for the calfskin strap, but is not Patek Philippe’s official dial-color designation.

How the flyback chronograph works
The self-winding CH 28-520 C movement drives a central chronograph hand and a combined 60-minute and 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock. The date appears in an aperture at 3 o’clock. A flyback function allows the chronograph to be reset and restarted in one operation, rather than requiring separate stop, reset and restart actions.
Patek Philippe groups the elapsed-time indications on a single monocounter with three concentric scales. The movement has 327 parts and 35 jewels, runs at 4 Hz and has a stated power reserve of 45 to 55 hours, according to the manufacturer’s product page.
