Introducing the Rado Captain Cook 39mm Gradient-Dial Variants

The R32223203 pairs a light-blue-to-silver dial with a light-blue bezel; the R32223213 combines a black-to-turquoise dial with a black ceramic bezel. Here are their shared specifications and the limits of the 2025 price report.

Rado’s Captain Cook 39mm appeared in two gradient-dial variants described by Monochrome Watches on July 21, 2025: the light-blue-and-silver R32223203 and the black-to-turquoise R32223213. Both share a 39 mm stainless-steel case, a reported 300 m water-resistance rating, and the automatic Rado R763 movement. Monochrome listed a price of CHF 2,200 at publication; that is not confirmation of today’s price or availability.

Two references, two dial-and-bezel pairings

The July 2025 introduction describes the differences between the watches primarily through their colors and bezel inserts. Both use a unidirectional bezel with 120 clicks, according to Monochrome Watches.

Reference Dial Bezel insert and markings
R32223203 Light blue fading to silver Light blue insert with silver metallised markings
R32223213 Black fading to turquoise Black high-tech ceramic insert with white Super-LumiNova markings

The contrast is clearest at the bezel: the first reference keeps a light-blue palette, while the second pairs its darker dial with a black ceramic insert. The article reports applied rhodium-plated indices with blue-emission Super-LumiNova, a date at 3 o’clock, and a pivoting anchor symbol at noon on both dials.

Shared case and movement specifications

Monochrome reports the following specifications for both references. These are figures from its 2025 introduction, not independent measurements or a current re-verification by Rado.

Component Reported specification
Case Polished stainless steel; 39 mm diameter, 12 mm thick, 45.5 mm lug-to-lug
Crown and caseback Screw-down
Water resistance 300 m
Bezel Unidirectional, 120-click; insert and markings vary by reference
Crystal Box-shaped sapphire with anti-reflective coating on both faces
Movement Automatic Rado calibre R763, described as based on Powermatic 80; 25 jewels, 21,600 vibrations per hour, 80-hour power reserve, Nivachron hairspring, adjusted in five positions
Functions Hours, minutes, central seconds, date
Bracelet Polished and brushed steel beads-of-rice bracelet, EasyClip system, three-fold clasp

The 39 mm case measurement is its diameter; the separate 45.5 mm lug-to-lug figure describes the distance from one end of the lugs to the other. Those dimensions provide a more useful sense of case scale than diameter alone, but they do not establish how the watch will fit a particular wrist.

What the reported 300 m rating does—and does not—tell you

The source lists 300 m water resistance and describes a unidirectional dive bezel. Those are the relevant published specifications for readers considering the Captain Cook as a dive-style watch. They do not amount to an independent assessment of diving suitability, operating performance, or real-world accuracy; the introduction reports specifications rather than test results.

Price and collection context

Monochrome Watches reported a retail price of CHF 2,200 when it published the introduction on July 21, 2025. The article does not establish the current price, stock status, warranty terms, or pricing in other markets. Check Rado or an authorized retailer for up-to-date information, and confirm the reference number if comparing listings.

Monochrome places the models in the broader Captain Cook story, describing the dive watch as launched in 1962 and revived in 2017. It calls these the first 39 mm Captain Cook models to join the permanent collection, while noting that a limited-edition Tennis model had been announced shortly beforehand. These are the publication’s historical and collection descriptions.
