The revived Benrus Ultra-Deep is a 36.5mm automatic dive watch with a twin-crown case, an internal 60-minute bezel, and 20 ATM water resistance. Benrus lists reference UD-SA-BK-SS at $1,195 as of October 7, 2026. Its design recalls the 1960s Ultra-Deep, but the modern watch is compressor-style—not a literal EPSA Super Compressor.
Benrus Ultra-Deep: current specifications and price
Benrus presents the Ultra-Deep as a tribute to the 1960s scuba-diving era. The current reference is UD-SA-BK-SS, listed on the manufacturer’s product page for $1,195 when checked on October 7, 2026. The price is subject to change; check the Benrus product page for the latest listing.

These are the manufacturer’s stated specifications; water resistance is a rating, not a guarantee of suitability for every activity or condition. The 36.5mm diameter and 41.5mm lug-to-lug length describe a compact footprint, while the 13.8mm height and double-domed crystal contribute to its profile on the wrist.
Is the revived Benrus Ultra-Deep a real Super Compressor?
No. The new watch uses a compressor-style layout, with two crowns and an internal bezel, but its case uses modern screw-down construction. Benrus says that construction maintains the 20 ATM rating. It does not use the spring-loaded EPSA mechanism found in the vintage reference.

On the original design, external water pressure pushed a spring-loaded case back more firmly against its seal. That pressure-responsive sealing arrangement is the defining distinction between a literal Super Compressor case and a watch that merely borrows its recognizable twin-crown appearance. Hodinkee and Fratello also distinguish the modern screw-down case from the original mechanism.
How the new watch relates to the 1960s Ultra-Deep
Fratello identifies the vintage inspiration as the Benrus Ultra-Deep reference 6089, part of the company’s 1960s dive-watch line. Its twin crowns and internal timing bezel give the revived model a clear visual link to that era, while the case construction is updated rather than reproduced.

Benrus Holdings LLC also stated in a 2023 legal filing that a predecessor first introduced an Ultra-Deep in the 1960s. That is the company’s statement in a filing, not a court finding.

The practical draw is the combination of a small-diameter case, an internal bezel, automatic movement, and a historically inspired profile. The second crown turns the bezel without an exposed external timing ring; buyers should be comfortable operating a crown to set dive timing. The acrylic crystal and compact proportions are also part of the design, rather than specifications to assume are interchangeable with a modern watch using sapphire.

Benrus lists the supplied Jubilee-style bracelet and blue nylon NATO strap, as well as compatible nylon and leather straps on its product page. The stated lug width is 18mm; confirm strap fit and attachment compatibility before purchasing an alternate strap.
The current listing is $1,195. Hodinkee’s coverage of the September 22, 2023 launch reported an earlier launch price of $1,095; that historical figure should not be confused with the current manufacturer listing.
