The Roger Dubuis Hommage La Placide (ref. RDDBHO0612) is a 38 mm pink-gold limited edition that pairs an automatic movement with a biretrograde perpetual calendar and moon phases. Roger Dubuis says it will make 28 pieces. Its mix of contemporary automatic watchmaking and a calendar lineage reaching back to the Maison’s early years gives this revival its defining character.
What is the Hommage La Placide?
Roger Dubuis presents the Hommage collection as a tribute to the watchmaking masters and friends who inspired its founder. The collection began in 1996; the Maison describes La Placide as a 30th-anniversary creation. Fratello’s November 12, 2025 launch coverage noted that the company itself was founded in 1995, so the anniversary wording is best understood as tied to the collection’s 1996 beginning rather than as a precise elapsed-time calculation. “La Placide” was Roger Dubuis’s childhood nickname, which the manufacturer says stayed with him throughout his life. The watch is limited to 28 pieces, with an engraved caseback carrying the founders’ collective message: “This is a watch of today, inspired but not restricted to the past, projected into a future that belongs to us.”
How does the biretrograde perpetual calendar work?
The watch shows hours and minutes alongside day, date, month, leap year and moon phase. Its distinctive calendar indications use a biretrograde layout: hands travel along arcs through their respective cycles, then snap back to the starting point at the cycle’s end. This creates a more animated display than conventional calendar hands that rotate around a dial.

The moon phase has its own visual treatment: a blue aventurine disc with curved 18K yellow-gold moons. Calendar indications and counters are presented in mother-of-pearl, set against a multi-layer dial that includes a Leman Blue lacquered plate. The manufacturer describes the construction as a five-layer expressive dial.
What is inside the RD1472 movement?
The automatic RD1472 brings together two strands of Roger Dubuis movement history. The Maison dates its RD72 perpetual-calendar module to 1999 and its RD14—described as its first in-house automatic movement—to 2004. It says the RD1472 combines these lineages; Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie (FHH) adds that the RD14 movements used for this edition were restored before being combined with RD72.

The manufacturer says many original RD72 components were remanufactured according to the 1989 patent co-signed by Roger Dubuis and designer Jean-Marc Wiederrecht. It also describes the calibre as reimagined to meet current Poinçon de Genève standards. FHH lists the movement as carrying that hallmark and records 15 decoration techniques. These accounts describe different aspects of the movement’s history and finishing rather than a single identical production claim.

Case, dimensions and everyday wear
The case is 38 mm across, made of 18K pink gold and 11 mm thick according to FHH. A sapphire caseback offers a view of the movement. The watch is supplied on a blue calf-leather strap with an interchangeable spring-bar fitting and a triple-folding pink-gold buckle.

Water resistance is rated at 3 bar / 30 m. That is a specification, not a recommendation for swimming or other water activity; the watch’s precious-metal case, leather strap and complicated movement make it sensible to treat the rating conservatively.
Edition and price context
Roger Dubuis limits the reference to 28 pieces. FHH lists an indicated price of EUR 115,000. Fratello’s November 12, 2025 launch article reported €115,000 before taxes. These are published price references, not confirmation of current stock, a current boutique quote or a completed transaction price.

Fratello also reported that the collector’s box includes a magnifier. The official product page offers boutique discovery and personal shopper contact, but neither source establishes current availability.

The La Placide’s most distinctive choice is the combination of an automatic calibre and a visually prominent biretrograde perpetual calendar. Rather than relying on the usual restrained presentation of a complicated calendar, it puts the returning arcs, mother-of-pearl indications and aventurine moon display at the center of the design. The historical movement links are specific: the automatic RD14 and calendar RD72 lineages are both identified by the Maison, while the restoration detail is reported by FHH.

That makes the watch more than a rose-gold anniversary edition, but its appeal will depend on a collector’s interest in this particular display architecture, the Maison’s early technical history and a 28-piece run. The published specifications establish what the watch is; they do not establish comparative value, market performance or how it wears in person.
