Among 2026’s most unexpected watch releases, Rolex turned familiar Oyster Perpetual designs into centenary statements and redesigned the Yacht-Master II, while OMEGA refreshed its Speedmaster 38 mm line with seven new references drawing more directly on the Moonwatch. Here’s what changed—and what the announcements actually establish.
Rolex’s 2026 collection: a centenary theme with some bold details
Rolex describes its 2026 collection as a celebration of 100 years of watchmaking, tied to the Oyster’s centenary. Its official New watches 2026 lineup includes the Perpetual Padellone, Oyster Perpetual 41 and 36, Oyster Perpetual 28 and 34, Datejust 41, Yacht-Master II, Day-Date 40 and Cosmograph Daytona. Several models stand out for how they reinterpret familiar designs.
Oyster Perpetual 41: a visible centenary tribute
At Watches and Wonders, Rolex presented the Oyster Perpetual 41 in yellow Rolesor—a combination of Oystersteel and yellow gold—with a slate dial marked “100 years.” The commemorative text makes the anniversary unusually explicit on the watch itself. Rolex’s US new-model page displayed a price of $9,650 for an Oyster Perpetual 41 in Oystersteel and yellow gold on October 7, 2026; that is a US-listed figure from that date, not a fixed price for every market or a guarantee of current availability. Oyster Perpetual 36: ten colours in a Jubilee motif
The Oyster Perpetual 36 pairs a multicoloured lacquer dial with the Jubilee motif. Wallpaper* reports that its ten colours are applied one by one using pad printing, making the pattern a more elaborate treatment than a conventional single-colour dial. The effect is a conspicuous departure from the restrained look many people associate with the Oyster Perpetual line. Rolex’s US page displayed the Oystersteel version at $6,750 on October 7, 2026; the figure is market-specific and may change. Yacht-Master II: a redesigned regatta chronograph
The Yacht-Master II is another significant change in the lineup. Wallpaper* describes the 2026 model as a complete redesign built around calibre 4162, with a countdown that runs counterclockwise. Those details distinguish the update from a simple new colour or material option: the redesign changes how the regatta countdown is presented and operated. Rolex’s US listing includes Yacht-Master II models in Oystersteel and yellow gold. Datejust, Day-Date and the rest of the range
The 2026 Rolex releases also include variations on the Datejust 41 and Day-Date 40. Rolex’s US page listed a Datejust 41 in Oystersteel and white gold with a green ombré dial at $11,650 on October 7, 2026. Wallpaper* also reports a Day-Date 40 in Jubilee Gold, a Rolex proprietary alloy that combines yellow, grey and pink tones. The stated Datejust price is a dated US display price; the Day-Date material description is from Wallpaper*’s coverage. The official Rolex lineup additionally lists the Perpetual Padellone, Oyster Perpetual 28 and 34, and Cosmograph Daytona. Rolex describes the Padellone as a complete annual-calendar watch displaying the date, day, month and moonphase alongside hours, minutes and seconds.

OMEGA’s Speedmaster 38 mm gets closer to the Moonwatch
On August 25, 2026, OMEGA announced seven new Speedmaster 38 mm references. The update brings several Moonwatch-inspired design elements into the smaller collection while retaining its 38 mm format. OMEGA says the revisions include rounded subdials in place of oval ones, less dial wording, a thicker bezel with the Dot-Over-Ninety detail, and a five-link bracelet in the style of the Moonwatch bracelet. Two movement configurations across seven references
The movement choice depends on the dial configuration: six date-equipped references use the self-winding Co-Axial calibre 3330, while the black-dial, no-date reference uses calibre 3332. That distinction matters if you are comparing the models; the seven releases do not all share one movement or complication layout. OMEGA’s announcement also frames the update as a stronger Moonwatch influence without abandoning the Speedmaster 38 mm collection’s distinct character.

What makes these releases surprising?
“Surprising” is a matter of editorial judgment, not an objective category. In Rolex’s case, the strongest surprises are the explicit centenary dial on the Oyster Perpetual 41, the ten-colour Jubilee-pattern dial on the Oyster Perpetual 36, and a substantially redesigned Yacht-Master II. OMEGA’s standout move is more focused: it has carried recognizable Moonwatch details into seven updated 38 mm references rather than announcing a single isolated variant.
The title’s “And More” does not specify additional brands, and the confirmed details here support coverage of Rolex and OMEGA only. OMEGA’s press-room search results also identify an October 5, 2026 announcement for six Seamaster Diver 300M James Bond and Spectre collection watches, but the announcement details are not sufficiently established here to describe those models further.
