The Seiko Prospex Shu-iro SRPH61K1 is a limited-edition Samurai-style dive watch announced in December 2021. Its deep red, tiled-mosaic dial and gold-tone details give it a distinctive look, with the colorway inspired by the deep red armor associated with ancient Suigun naval forces.
What is the Seiko Shu-iro watch?
Shu-iro is the name given to the red colorway of the Seiko Prospex SRPH61K1. Fratello’s December 1, 2021 launch article describes it as a limited-edition Prospex Samurai diver and associates the shade with deep red armor worn by ancient Suigun naval forces. That historical inspiration is presented by the article; the account is not independently confirmed here against a primary historical source.
The watch’s defining feature is its deep red dial, patterned with a tiled mosaic texture. Gold-tone hands and indexes, filled with white lume, contrast with the dial. A black ceramic bezel carries gold-tone markings, while the angular case follows the styling Fratello calls “King Samurai.”

How many Shu-iro Prospex watches were made?
Fratello reported a planned production run of 3,500 pieces. That is the announced edition size, not independent confirmation of how many watches were ultimately delivered. The same December 2021 article said the model was planned to become available in January 2022 and would come with matching special packaging and an additional black rubber strap.
What was the launch price?
The December 2021 announcement reported a price of €740. This is historical launch information; it does not establish the watch’s current retail price, present availability, or resale value. The article also noted that standard-production Samurai models were €100 less at the time, a period-specific comparison rather than a current price guide.

What makes the Shu-iro edition distinct?
The edition’s identity rests on the combination of its red mosaic dial, gold-tone accents, black ceramic bezel and stated limited run. The extra black rubber strap and matching packaging were also part of the launch article’s description. No second specific model is established here for a reliable model-by-model comparison.
For a meaningful comparison with another Samurai, check the exact references and the market and date for any prices. Compare dial and bezel materials and colors, movement, included straps, and whether the other watch is limited or standard production; prices from the 2021 announcement should not be treated as current.
