Dial design: maritime colors, not a regatta timer
The dial is dark blue opaline, with silver chronograph counters whose interiors have a snailed finish. Its most unusual detail is the 30-minute counter, divided into six alternating turquoise and silver sections. Yellow lacquer on the counter hands and central chronograph-seconds hand adds another bright accent; the hour and minute hands have white Super-LumiNova. Applied indices and a date at 6 o’clock complete the layout.

The colors recall the Heuer Seafarer, a colorful chronograph with tide indication that Monochrome places in 1950. The feature also recounts that Jack Heuer and a physics teacher collaborated on the Solunar, a watch designed to display tide times. This Carrera borrows a maritime visual vocabulary, but the segmented subdial is described as a graphic countdown motif—not as a tide display or a marketed regatta timer. Its bezel has no tachymeter scale.

The listed 42 mm diameter and 15.7 mm thickness describe the case, but the feature does not provide a lug-to-lug measurement or a wrist-fit test. Those omissions make it difficult to infer how the watch will sit on a particular wrist from the dimensions alone.

How it fits the Carrera and Seafarer story
Monochrome connects the Carrera’s history to its 1963 chronograph origins and says the more luxurious 42 mm Carrera arrived in 2020 for TAG Heuer’s 160th anniversary. Against that backdrop, this limited edition changes the familiar chronograph presentation primarily through color and counter design: the Seafarer-inspired palette gives the dial its maritime character, while the watch remains a conventional chronograph in its stated functions.
